Walgreens Today

I was on a mission to get the three 6oz Lubriderm I saw yesterday at the store closest to my house.

I walked in clutching my (3) $2 coupons and $1 IVC from the Diabetes & You booklet, walk up to the shelf and… empty!

*sob*

So I went to plan B and got more of the Pure Blends Foundation and Eye Shadow, the store was still ringing B1G1 so $10 later I’m out the door with a $10 RR and $5 RR.

I went over to the “rich people’s store” and they did not have even one Pure Blends Foundation on the hangers! Plenty of signs, which were missing in the last store, so probably why they this store was OOS and the other store had plenty available. I was able to grab (2) 6 oz lubriderm and then (1) larger one on sale for $6.99.

(2) $3.79
(1) $6.99
= $14.57
- $3 IVC credit
= $11.57
- (3) $2 manufacturer coupons
= $5.57 + Received $8 RR

Not as good as having three $3.79 Lubriderm, but not bad either.

So, off to Walgreen’s #3. John you are not alone!

My favorite Walgreen’s cashier was no where to be found, so I agreed to cash out at the cosmetic counter. I decided to take a hit for the team and see what would generate if one Pure Blends Lip Gloss and one Pure Blends Eye Shadow were rung together. Well, this store was also B1G1, but NO RR printed! I asked about it, and the manager was in the midst of handing a form to the lady next to me for several weekly offers that did not print.

Ut oh

This store was always the best for giving gift certificates in lieu of RR. Now they are handing out the forms!? Try as I might I could not get a coherent answer from the MOD as to why the monthlies were not printing. She mentioned a call to their store from Catalina this morning, but gave no details.

I returned the make-up instead of mailing for the RR. I did, however, decide to go ahead with the Lubriderm deal and mail for that RR offer. It is too difficult to find the 6oz size to not take advantage of the deal, even if it means waiting a month for my RR.

Sooooo anyone know why one store in the center of several would not be printing RR? They did not print two monthlies for me, and they did not print two weeklies for the lady standing next to me.

At my nearest Walgreens the Almay was ringing up B1G1 50% off, kind of a bummer but still a good deal… (Esp. if the makeup is actually good, I’ve never used it before.)

At one Walgreens the six ounces were GONE, and at another there wasn’t even a spot on the shelf for them! (Only the bigger bottles.)

I’m going to keep going back! :D

For the most part I stopped shopping at Walgreens. In my opinion they just make it too difficult to shop there. There is always some kind of problem with RR or coupon ratio, or they are OOS. I can get same/similar stuff at RI or CVS without having to count coupons and without actually having to spend any real $ OOP that I am not going to see back. It amazes me that they go through all the expense and time to come up with the deals only to make it way too difficult to do those deals.

Ann, I called the catalina company this morning. They agreed that the machine should have issued RR’s and agreed to mail them. It could take as much as 12 weeks, though :( , but at least I have a confirmation # and a commitment to send. Also, voicemail instructs that you can send in requests via email. Not sure if this is faster than the form. But it may be useful if someone can’t stay on hold that long. It only took about 7 minutes total. Thanks for the suggestion again.

Thanks for the follow-up John. I may end up doing the email thing myself. The only positive to getting the RR in the mail is they are usually valid for a month instead of the normal two weeks.

I agree, Tatiana. It is like there is a huge disconnect between marketing and their stores.

Still, these two deals are great, especially if you roll them. Very little OOP originally and then you accumulate RR! I’ll be getting “free” newspapers for several weeks.

My store didn’t have any of the 6oz Lubriderms which didn’t surprise me. My trip wasn’t a total waste because I found the Dulcolax Balance that they didn’t have last week. The deal is still good and it is still $7. There were no coupons on the packages but I came prepared with a $3 printable coupon. The Dulcolax deal is really super because it doesn’t cost anything after RRs and you can send in for a $5 MIR.

I agree that Walgreens is a ROYAL PAIN to shop at but sometimes the deals really are irresistible.

I went to my Walgreens last night and I got the last 3-6oz Lubriderms. I bought that along w/the Almay PB foundation & mascara, I loved getting the $23 in RRs!
