When I wrote this up, all the printables were working links. These links can run out of prints, so print ‘em while you can!

Below are what I consider the best deals for the week beginning 10/31/10. There are many other RR deals week so be sure to look on the main Walgreens page

Walgreens Rewards Test markets of greater Richmond VA, greater Kansas City, MO and greater Portland OR

Don’t forget the new Walgreens Corporate Coupon Policy! Print it and carry it with you when you shop at Walgreens.

Note: You could use (3) of the Purchase two (2) Secret (excludes secret original), Receive Old Spice Body Spray Free (value to $6) coupons if you are feeling adventurous. Just make sure to add the body spray to the deal above

So, since I figure the odds are low that Walgreens will have many many more than 7 trail size secret, let’s try this YMMV offer (again YMMV due to lack of stock)

Another realistic deal:

Every week it is stated: a RR from the same manufacturer will not roll.

So wth does that mean?

Ok, after further review I decided to clean up my last clarification. :-P

A RR from the same product or alike manufacturer will not roll if it is for the exact same amount.
If you use a $2 J&J RR on an offer from J&J that will get you a $3 RR, it should roll.
Problem is it does not always generate a new RR when from the same manufacturer even with differing RR amounts.
And, if it does not roll you get the cashier/manager arguments and the Catalina arguments that you used a RR from the same manufacturer, blah, blah, blah .

So, I am going to leave this as an absolute even though there are exceptions. I’d rather people safe than sorry especially when dealing with money.

I am new to your site and I was wondering what “YMMV” means?

Hi Kathy,

It means your mileage may vary (although I once saw someone write “your manager may vary” and that cracked me up).

Basically it means there is something about the deal that will allow it to work for some folks and not others. In the two scenarios listed above the YMMV comes in because of stock on hand. I am guessing there will not be enough at any one store to accomplish the deal more than once… if that.

To help you along, click here for a list of couponing acronyms and abbreviations.

And welcome to Coupons, Deals and More!

LOL! I used to think that it meant your manager may vary when I first started couponing :)

I thought it meant market.. makes more sense to me than milage hehe

So that 8 gillette deodorant purchase I would like to do, BUT, I can’t use previously earned RR to pay, can I ???

Still learning how Wags works. I am gathering 1 coupon per item so I would have to pay the $15 OOP. Right?

The short answer is you cannot use a P&G RR to pay for this deal, anything else is fine.

Longer answer… that isn’t always true, but if your new RR does not print and you used a P&G RR on that first order, the store manager will immediately tell you that is why and they will not do anything for you.

So, that is why I always tell people to not use the same manufacturer RR on another RR deal offered by the same manufacturer.

In this case, if you want to take the ZarBee’s Cough Syrup RR and use it on the P&G deal, you wll be fine.

One last thing; Walgreens machines look at coupons from both a dollar amount and item count.

So if you have 5 manufacturer coupons to use + a RR, you need 6 products on your order.

Let’s say you have

(5) widget B $3 each
(1) widget A 25¢
= $15.25

now you have (5) widget B $2 manufacturer coupons

- $10 coupons
= $5.25

now you have a $5 RR.

You can use it.

The amount due is $5 or more, and you had 6 items and 6 coupons (for all intents and purposes a RR is a coupon), one for each item on your order. It does not matter that all your items were under $5 in value, the machine is looking at the amount due.

- $5 RR
=25¢

People are always on the hunt for a cheap filler item to use at walgreens. If you have $15 in RR earned from some other non-P&G deal, and want to use it on this offer – let’s say you have (3) $5 RR – then you need to find (3) cheap filler items (10¢, 25¢, whatever) so you can use your RR and make your ou of pocket cost low (in this case 30¢)

OK…I have $10 in RR (4 total RR) so I need to find 4 filler items to use at the same time so that my item count is correct.

I think it makes more and more sense to me every week, and transaction, that goes by.

Thanks again, as always. (O:

If you are purchasing 8 products and have 8 manufacturer coupons for them, and want to use those 4 RR, then yes, you would need to find four tiny filler items.

I did the P&G deal this morning. I bought 7- Olay 2 pk bars ($2.46 ea), 4-Secret deo ($3.99 ea), 2- 8pk Kit Kat bars ($1 ea). I used 4- Buy Secret get $5 off Olay bars… cpns, 4-50 cents off Secret, 3- $1.50 off Olay bars…., and $5 RR from Alka Seltzer deal.

As usual at the register with cashier and Asst Manager, a debate of using 50 cents Secret with $5 off Olay bars. They read it over and over. The Asst Manager said let’s see but I can’t give you the full amount of the $5 off the bars since the bars are $2.46. I said OK.

My total OOP was $16.31 incl tax. Not such a good deal because I was not able to use the full face value of the coupons. So be aware. I did get the $10RR, so with coupons and RR; $6.31 my final total.
yeah.

Awww Lisa, you should have said, “just scan these” pushed them all in front of them and/or removed the secret. I’d have found another Walgreens before I’d have let them adjust the $5 coupon down.

That is a good idea. Next time I will. Thank you. My usual cashier was not there this morning which is her usual shift. I should’ve waited for her.

Oh bummer Lisa…there is such a learning curve when it comes to couponing. Thank goodness for Ann and her advice to get around the managers/cashiers that care a little too much about not allowing us to save!

I did the whole Secret/Olay deal at Tops and will post there.

At Walgreens I did two orders and ended up with the following:

8 Gillette Mens deodorant
2 zarbees cough medicine
1 chapstick
4 health bars

The chapstick and bars were fillers so I could use my 4 RR (COlgate $3.50 from last week).

My total OOP was $12 and I received a $10, $6, and $6 RR.

I just wish Wags would get newspapers with all the coupon inserts! Ugh!

I thought it was in Walgreens coupon policy to adjust down and not give overage.. am I missing something or is it just up to the store manager?

admin October 31, 2010 at 8:40 pm

The coupon scans off at $5 as programmed by the register.

I went to 2 different Wags today and both were sold out of the Toy Story 3 action figure that comes free with the DVD purchase. Booo.
