My son came over with a few friends, stayed for a while and left a short time ago.
The doorbell rang a few minutes ago.
It was a neighborhood kid (and we don’t have many) asking “Is that your white dog over there!?”
Max was at the curb!
And there comes my son driving down the street to pick up something he forgot. (We seldom have cars either!)
I said, “Max come” loudly and calmly. It got his attention, but he was too interested in the street and a car (he likes to lunge after cars when on his leash. He doesn’t have enough slack to actually chase them) so he was gearing up for this car to come at him so he could chase it.
I was too far away so I literally screeched, “MAX! MAX! COME!” and whaddya know? He came!
I thanked the boy at the door profusely and yelled at my son who promptly ratted out his friends who promptly apologized.
This could have had a very bad ending if not for the kid at the door. He disappeared while my back was turned, but wow am I grateful to him.
Now hubby has to find out why the gate is staying open instead of gliding closed after someone leaves.

Wow! What a scare! Be sure to file that ‘commanding voice’ away in a safe place just in case you need to use it again.
I’d describe it as “hysterical shrieking” more than “commanding”, but….

Yes, he got a chip when he got fixed.
