This post is all about me, me, me and what I, I, I need, need, need (ok that last triple made no sense)
In December of 2009 I posted that I fully expected to finally do the cross country road trip I had wanted to take for years. The idea was to visit a few states hubby and I have never seen before, that could only be done via driving. I asked for suggestions on what to see, and got some fantastic help and ideas!
Well, we ended up not going because hubby couldn’t get the time off work.
However, I have a summit in Colorado in July, and then BlogHer in San Diego in August. Since hubby and I did not kill each-other on the business road trip last summer that started in Tulsa and ended in Raleigh with about eight cities in between, we figured we’d give it a go this year as I honestly did not want to go back and forth out west twice in two weeks.
The part we are fuzzy about is what to do for the two weeks in between Colorado and San Diego. We may end up in SLC for a bit, and we will definitely end up in Vegas for some of that time (even possibly dumping the dog on my MIL), but hubby suggested we might like to do something in Northern California or Southern Oregon. Any suggestions? We are not in any way shape, manner or form outdoorsy. In other words: no camping.
Also, for those of you in the San Diego area. Ms Benjamins and I will be holding a meet-up either the Wednesday before (8/3/11) Blogher or the Sunday after (8/7/11) it ends. Please keep it in mind if you would be interested in attending. More later. Ms Benjamins will be making the location choice because what I am familiar with is either pricey, or too far away. She’s really a good sport!
Any help or input if greatly appreciated.

Oh you should definitely stop in SLC. Park City is really nice that time of year and there are a lot of fun outdoorsy things that don’t require an outdoorsy person
) I use to live in Dallas (moved here about a year and a half ago) and while I hate the snow, the summers are very nice here.
Park City is lovely indeed in the summer.

Um….California is PRIME with wine regions. Santa Barbara County, Sonoma, Napa, Paso, Russian River County. And you have a car – however, you might need a trailer after you are done.
We are going to BlogHer, so hubby was thinking a cargo van.

If you make it to Southern Oregon I would recommend the Hellgate Jetboat ride on the Rogue River in Grants Pass (hellgate.com). Hubby and I did this acouple years ago and we couldn’t stop laughing. The scenery is beautiful and the brunch was fantastic! We are from Portland, Oregon.
Thanks Terry!

Hi Ann,
we used to live in bay area(north california).few places would be YOSEMITE, LAKE TAHOE,RENO. I am not sure if you have visited these places already.
Nope, but aren’t they outdoors? Maybe a winery or six is better for us?

Having done the Northern Cal/Southern Oregon trek myself, you absolutely MUST travel up Hwy 1 and 101 (the coastal highway). The trek will take you thru the redwoods, the scenic coastal vistas, and Coos Bay in Oregon. Lots of places to stop along the way, great seafood, and little side treks for attractions.
Hubby agrees with you Terri!
