Tulsa Oklahoma!

by admin on July 21, 2010

As I mentioned last week hubby “hired” me as cheap labor (he’s feeding me WhooHoo!) on his drive through the south. We’re stopping in a lot of cities over the next few weeks, so I am posting from the road. It isn’t bad for me as I am in an air conditioned office for 8 hours every day, so putting only a few hours less each week on the blog as I would if I were home (yes, I put in over 60 hours a week writing Coupons, Deals and More, answering email, etc., etc).

So, I figured I’d make a daily post of where-in-the-United-States-is-Ann!

Today we are in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

It is freaking hot in Tulsa. As in I am melting, hot. High today of 110º!! People here speak with an accent. Everyone we’ve met has been extremely friendly. Very nice folks in Tulsa. It is also really pretty here. Very green, so I assume with this kind of heat sprinkler systems must be prevalent. If it is the dew, my question would be “how”. When we checked into our hotel at 11:30 last night, it was still over 90º …. and about 2631% humidity.

The only store we hit was a Quick Trip. I did pick up some tear pad coupons there, but I was more astounded by all the ready-to-eat containers, the roasting hot dogs, the mini bakery, and the 49¢ 32oz fountain drinks! From the outside it looks like your average mini-mart, but inside, it was so much more. Pretty amazing place.

I’m not sure we’ll get to the local grocery store, but I did take a picture of one, Food Emporium was just a blur as we drove by, so Reasor’s across from the hotel it is!

I have a lot of Oklahoma readers, and now I know why! Look at what was in the manager’s office of the subject property:

Clearly Oklahomans enjoy, and are very serious about, their couponing! That is something I had not seen before on any of the properties I’ve toured with hubby. Nice spirit of sharing and giving.

So glad you enjoyed your quick trip through Tulsa… I know our Oklahoma heat can be unbearable for some, I guess we just endure and enjoy what we can – and wait for fall and football! Hope you have a safe and fascinating journey along the way…

Thanks for visiting us “Okie’s”. And as I travel around myself, I am told I have a “Twang”… LOL…

Haha “People here speak with an accent.” Well, ya’ll ARE in the south ya’ know!! And I am pretty sure the people you are speaking with are saying, “She speaks with an accent.”
And sorry to tell you but the further south you go, the more that 2631% humidity is going to rise.
Have a great safe trip….and again my condolences to your butt for the MANY miles of driving!

I worry the humidity will get worse, but we are now just outside Dallas and it is no where near as hot and humid as it was when we left Tulsa.

Nawwww, I do not have an accent. I speak “great lake” which is also referred to as “the nightly news accent”, or unaccented American English.

I’m not sure that includes Chicago though as hubby is always kidding his brother about his Chicago accent. Surprisingly, hubby does not have a Chicago or NYC accent.

Yes Tulsa OK is hot! Reasor’s started in my hometown in Tahlequah. I am glad you made it this way–been usual weather this year. There are lots of couponers here because all the good deals run out quickly at the local drugstores and grocery stores here in Tulsa! Come back in the fall when the leaves change–it is beautiful!

Time Warner Cable hates us LOL as internet has not be working properly in a week.

Anyhow – sounds like you having a great time. Is this a road trip right? The humidity in the NE is pretty ridiculous too but 110 is WAY high.

Speaking of accents – I grew up in upstate NY and I remember a friend from Cali told me I have a Northeast accent. Whatever that is. :)

Would you believe that I have a friend in Tulsa who is currently training for a marathon. She’s running for miles outside there EVERY day in that.

I used to work at QuikTrip as teen, so I know how wonderful they are! Their cleanliness standards are high, their customer service is on point, and their gas is guaranteed. Now I have a new reason to love QT: Blockbuster kiosks are going in!! I saw my first one today!! YAY!!! It is the first one I have ever seen anywhere around, so I am excited to start getting the free movie codes that seem so much more abundant than the Redbox codes!!
