Sunday Morning Shopping

by admin on July 11, 2010

Since I will not be home until later this afternoon, I am not shopping this morning. I’d reeeeeaaaaallllly like to know how you did today? Did you go out shopping? How’d you do? Did everything go as planned, or did you have to change on the fly!?

Details folks, I need details!

CVS
Rite Aid
Walgreens
Target

Local paper has $2 Heluva Good Cheese coupon on back of section 1. Parade has 75 cent Sara Lee pound cake or cream pie. The cheese is $2.49 at Wegman’s.

The 3D toothpaste 5.8 oz as indicated in weekly flyer ring as $2.99, however in the rebate book it states that the rebate will be for the 4 oz. The 4 oz did not ring on sale at all. So I got the 5.8 oz but I have a feeling this rebate might involve a phone call to customer service. Other than that Rite Aid was wonderful as usual.

Your blog is a little slow this morning, at least for me.

Anyways, I did the Neutrogena Clinical for the Try Me MIR. I’m at the 20% disc.

Neutrogena Clinical $31.99
-$5/$25
-$5 Neutrogena Clinical Printable
-$1/$10

= $20.99

Earned $2 +Up Rewards

-$31.99 Neutro MIR

=$13.99 profit

Thanks TB – crap I also got the 5.8 oz TP and it rang up on sale. RA better give me $2 rebate on it. Grr..

I didn’t have the $5 printable Neutrogena since we don’t have computer that DH will let me use the bricks program. I had to settle with only using the $5/25 cpn, no $1/10 either :( .

Not a huge MM but I haven’t done the Skin Care rebate yet so this will help. I only have 140 pts so I haven’t gotten any regular price discounts yet.

Clinical – $39.99
Crest Scope – $2.69
Crest 3D TP 5.8 – $2.99
- 5/25, $1 mfg, $0.75 mfg both for crest = $42.xx (including tax)
Get back $39.99 for TMF + $39.99 towards Skin Care.

At CVS –
1 scissors $0.99
1 pens $0.99
2 CVS liners $1/2
1 old styled clearanced Pantene $2.50
2 Arizonas $0.99 (b1g1)
- $2 pantene CRT, $1/1 pantene MFG
- $2.97 ECB
= $0.98 (including tax)
Tax really kills us here.

I won’t mention I also spent $16 (opps!!) at Stop & Shop for only 5 items. I guess that kills any deal thrills I had.

I headed for RA to get Advil as I had a headache. My first deal wasn’t so good. Then my brain kicked in. Advil was $16.49 -20%=13.19+Pantene 2/7=20.19.
$5/20
$4 advil in flyer
2-$2 pantene
1 -$1/10 pain relief
$3 in up rewards
=$3.19
received 2-$2 Up rewards
did the deal again.
There were some problems putting thru the up rewards, but they hand entered them.

Bought some groceries and realized that I would now have enough receipts to do a $30 nbpr!

DIDI what coupons did you use for RA?????

Reply

Suzanne July 11, 2010 at 4:26 pm

I went to two Rite Aid stores, but only one actually had the Neutrogena Clinical. The other store didn’t even have a spot on the shelf so maybe some stores don’t carry it yet.

Neutrogena Clinical $35.99
Crest White plus Scope $2.69
(I am at 10% discount level)
minus coupons
$5/$25 RA
$5/1 Neutrogena printable
$1/$10 RA beauty
$1/1 Crest coupon

$26.68 OOP plus I received $2 UP+

I will submit for:
$35.99 Neutrogena Rebate
$2.69 Crest rebate
$15 RA SCR #555 with bonus

$29 moneymaker including coupons, rebates, and UP+ rewards

I also went to Famous Footwear because they released a Facebook coupon for $10/$10.

I got a pair of sandals for my son for $9.99 (regular price $24.99) and two 6pks of socks $4.50 for both (regular $5.99 marked down to $3 plus they were B1G1 50% off)

$36.97 worth of merchandise
Paid $4.49 plus tax

I had two easy trips this morning. The first was to the Walgreens by my house. I had quit going b/c of the hassle, but my favorite cashier was working the front register! Woohoo. All I wanted was the Nabisco crackers, so I was back up to the front in no time. She said, “Hey, I haven’t seen you in a while!” =) Yay for recognizing me still! For some reason the manager was standing up there…so since I couldn’t say, “I quit coming here because your co-workers suck” I said something about being busy b/c of the summer. When she realized my total was going to be zero, she asked if I wanted to buy a Reeses cup. As the manager was still standing there, I said sure and bought one. It wasn’t hard to talk me into it. =)

CVS trip was easy as well. There were plenty of pens and scissors left, as well as John Frieda hair products. Spent $8 in ECB, walked out with $6.98. Since my ECBs were expiring and I bought things I’ll actually use (as opposed to buying something just to flip), I don’t mind the difference.

2 Nabisco cracker packages
1 Reeses cup
2 Tasters Choice instant coffee
2 JF hair care products
1 Papermate pens
1 scissors

Spent $1.36 OOP(including tax)
Used $8 ECB, received $6.98

I checked out my local RA to check for the Neutrogena Clinical last night and there was not a spot on the shelf for it. This morning I made the trek to an RA further away and got there before 9 and sat in my car…only to realize they opened at 8. I got the only Neutrogena Clinical. That was it for me.

I bought the Neutrogena Clinical at Rite Aid today, used the $5 MQ, $5/$25 RA Q, got back $2 UP rewards. Submitted for RA SCR#555 and SCR#655 – I already had $12.79 toward this so I should be good for the full rebate. Plus I have the MIR ready to send to Neutrogena tomorrow morning for the $39.99 rebate. If I counted correctly, this is roughly a $42 profit.

CVS – I got the ink pens and scissors, used a $2 ECB to pay and didn’t owe a cent OOP.

Looking forward to a few grocery store deals on Wednesday.

Sunday Morning Shopping

by Ann on March 28, 2010

Rite Aid starting Sunday 4/4 (profit!)
CVS starting Sunday 4/4/10 (great deals!)
Walgreens starting Sunday 4/4/10

******

We pulled into Rite Aid at 9:05am and we were the only people in the place!

When I checked on Thursday, the Lysol no touch were on an endcap, so I went right over to it this morning.

Nuthin’!

The first thought I had was the employees cleaned out the store, then I remembered that, while these employees LOVE to see the customer get a deal, they all say it is too time consuming to do themselves.

Ooooooooooooo K

So, I asked the sales clerk who went in back and got two for me and two for hubby. I them went over to the Neutrogena make-up. The make-up started at $10.99, the lip started at $7.29. I ended up getting four of the $7.29 stuff. My orders went as follows:

(4) Neutrogena Shine $7.29, $3.64
= $21.86
- $5/$20 Rite Aid coupon
= $16.86
- (4) $2/$2.99+ cosmetic wellness+ coupons
= $8.86
- (4) $1 manufacturer coupons
= $4.86
- $5 SCR
= FREE!

The Lysol rang up a penny less than I expected! booohiisssss

I grabbed some 33¢ candy for my order:

(2) $7.49
(1) 33¢
= $15.31
- $3/$15 RA coupon
= $12.31
- (2) $5 manufacturer coupons
= $2.31
- (2) $1 adperk coupons
= 31¢

Hubby did not have to add a filler because he had Moon Pies in his basket. @@

The bottom of the CRT coupons this week are: $1/$1.99 oral care and $2/$2.99+ skin care, expires 4/3/10!! I hope they update those later today.

After that we went to breakfast at Friendly’s where the lady at the next table gave us a $2/$10+. That was nice!

Then hubby wanted to go to Big Lots. I sorta suspected he’d try and pull a run, so I put my card in my purse. YAY! I remembered. And our order total was $18. Oh well.

Next door to Big Lots is a JoAnn. I forgot to bring my 20% off your entire order coupon! Poop. I seldom see additional percentage off coupons on the sale prices at JoAnn’s, so … poop. My discount would have been about $1.50, so I figure that nice lady at Friendly’s made it up with her unexpected coupon.

Then we went over to Target where I spent $25 on who-knows-what. They did not have the Monopoly games in, so I could not use my raincheck and coupons. I’ll have to try later in the week. I did get over 50 new TPCs which I will add to the Target page later today.

I resisted Walgreens, even with the rolling Dove deal. And you know what? I did not mind by-passing the deal.

So how did you do today?

I had a very quick shopping day today but everything went pretty good. I first stopped at cvs to return some vitamins I bought yesterday because I bought the wrong brand and to pick up some papers. I bought 3 since my mom buys 2, sister buys 2 and aunt buys 1 and they all give me the coupons :) I used extra bucks and got back $1 ecb for my green bag tag. I am going back later to get the huggies diapers because I have the $3ips thanks to your kind readers and a $2/$10 baby crt. Then off to rite aid where I got 2 lysol no touch hand soap dispenser systems , 1 john freida conditioner on clearance and 3 caress bodywashes(my fave) and paid only $0.61. My subtotal was -$0.81. I think I’m finally getting the hang of rite aid and the wellness program. Too bad I don’t have more of the 2/2.99 skin care coupons so I can get more free caress.

I didn’t think it was worth it. I am an instant gratification kind of gal :) and never gave any types of rebates a chance. So glad I found you :) y

Ann, that’s so crazy about the Lysol no touch, where do you think they went?! Well, because of you I had some great RA runs. 3 transactions, 2 stores, after $2 rebate paid $1.50 for: 4 Lysol no touch, 4 Electrasol kits, 1 Cetaphil cleanser, 1 Airwick compact ,and 2 snickers! DD needs the Cetaphil, I have $5 IPs and the $2 in-store coupon made it $1.29, they only had 1, so I guess I’ll be making daily trips to RA (again) this week. Even rolling rr’s can’t get me into Wags, I think that’s how I know I’m done with that place! BTW, do you know of any good blogs/sites that post Shaw’s/StopnShop/MarketBasket deals?(basically boston grocers) TIA!

okay I am going to be making another trip to rite aid to do this deal : 6 johnsons bodywashes/lotion 23.94. 1 caress bodywash 2.99.

-7 $2/2.99 skincare wellness = 7.93. -$1 caress manu. = 6.93. -6 $1 johnson manu q’s. = 0.93 + tax.
Submit for $5 rebate #53 making it a mm! I love the johnson bodywash too. :)

I didn’t make it to Rite Aid today but stopped at two Wags, CVS, and Target. Second Wags was a bust. Manager tried making up his own coupon policy so I took my coupons back, got the one Warm Delights (free with the $1/1 coupon we had in the paper today!), and left the rest for them to put back. I knew I’d be able to do the same scenario at the other Wags so I’ll go later this week. The cashier actually tried to get me to go ahead and buy the stuff even though she hadn’t scanned $14 worth of coupons! Hello!?! The woman behind me was a couponer too and was like “that’s a lot of money.”

Liz March 28, 2010 at 6:09 pm

DH went to Walgreens for me and got the FARR items for me. GO DH — normally he would never do that. Only b/c I’m going to flip them into Cetaphils for DD and he understood that. The problem is RA and CVS is still expensive. I don’t have the $5 cetaphil unfortunately, never got it to work for me and didn’t get a mailed one, although I attempted it. I do have $2 cpns from magazines which is better than nothing. No rolling at this store cause the cashier are bitter and snippy about customers getting a good deal. DH just said, my wife told me to get it.

I do want to get to CVS to get the huggies to use up a $4/20 expires 3/31 and I am running out of diapers in size 3.

I went to Rite Aid this morning hoping to find the deals, even though they were not advertised in our flyer. I was disappointed to find out they were not on sale there. I guess I will continue to hold out for those deals. ( I live in Cortland, NY).

I also was disappointed to find that the Lysol and Electrasol were not on sale at my Rite Aid.

I tried to use the Caress Body Wash coupon and wellness skin care coupon (along with a candy bar for filler), but my manager would not accept both since the value of the coupons together was a penny more than the cost of the body wash. So I walked out, after buying nothing, with my adperk, wellness, manufacturer, and Rite Aid coupons all still tightly clenched in my fist. :)

Thanks Ann, I’ll check out her blog! Too bad so many people didn’t get Lysol/Electrasol deal. :( Just got back from my third RA and found the Cetaphil, so excited about that! For anyone that did get the $5 IPs, I did the following:
4 Cetaphil $8.29
=$33.16
- 1 $5/25
- 4 $5/1 IP
- 4 $2/1 in-ad coupon
=0.16!
Poor DD’s skin has been suffering without it, thankfully I was able to stock up, only wish I had more of those coupons!

I did two deals at Wags today. I got one of all the FARR items, and rolled the Dove once. My fave BA was working and allowed me to do the Beneful dog food. She said as long as I didn’t go negative. Woohoo! I needed to buy some of the Motions shampoo and conditioner for my daughter so I would have spent $10 + tax anyway, but I ended up paying $2 something which was mainly tax.

but i will agree with you, no wags RR, other deals not dealing with RR is ok.

No such luck for me in SC at Rite Aid this week with the Electrasol and Lysol. I had great plans for everything that was 50% off, but when I walked in at 8:30 on Sunday morning they rang up full price and we didn’t have the extra ad in our regular sales paper.

Where can I find the $2/$2.99+ cosmetic wellness+ coupons? I just started shoping at Rite Aid a little over a month ago and I’ve never heard of the wellness coupons. Thanks for any help!

I hit up CVS today too, I took advantage of the Hellman’s deal..spend 10 get back 3, I used 4 75 cent off coupons and it ended up a pretty good deal on mayo. We go through a lot of it, so I was happy. I also had 2 of th $1 off fig newton coupons left over and snagged two boxes free. Also did the $4 moneymake on Gillette. I used my ECBs and had no out of pocket other than tax and left with $11 in ECB’s.

I’ve seen the single size Butterfinger bars in a 2/$1.00 carton in stores. Restocking of last week items that generated a RR was a joke.

Locally, Wags has changed milk from its label to a regional label. One store I purchase a jug that has won’t expire for 12 days, while I forget to check the date at another Wags and the expiration was the previous day. Given that IL is more liberal on milk deals, Last week I received a $1.00 ECB each on two gal. and when I purchase 3 more at CVS this month, I’ll get an ECB for a free one.

Sunday Morning Shopping

by Ann on December 20, 2009

We did not get a drop of snow yesterday, so hubby and I were at the door when CVS opened at 9 am. We were the fourth ones in, and hubby was assigned the thermacare. Some lady beat him to it, but she only got three.

Three

They had three stinkin’ thermacare on the shelf at store opening on Sunday morning. Limit five, but they had THREE!

And companies wonder why people get upset with the deals?

Well, we had not been to CVS this month, so I was able to substitute the Complete contact solution for the five thermacare and still get over $30 and use my $5/$30 coupon.

OOP was $5 for me and I ended up with (1) $9.99 ECB + (2) $5 ECB + (1) $3 ECB + (2) $2 ECB

I never found the Alteril Sleep Aid, but I did not need it to make $30.

After that it was off to Tops where we picked up the Perry’s limited edition Christmas White ice cream but no sherbert. We barely had freezer room for the ice cream! (And this morning a local store is offering the ice cream for 2/$5… we need freezer room). And, since our freezer is so crammed I could not find the farmer’s cheese to make pierogi today, so I had to purchase another pound. *sigh* I also lost a glove. *heavy sigh* There was a $5/$50+ coupon stuck to the from of this morning’s newspaper. Check your local paper to see if you got one too.

After that is was off to Target for $2 12 packs of Diet Coke with Lime. Too bad they were out of that flavor! Every other stinkin’ flavor was in stock, nuthin’ with lime.

And yet we still managed to spend $25!!!

Last stop was Rite Aid. The quench lotion was $5.99 and I did not care since it was free with coupon and I’ll get another $5.99 back by mail. They did have a space for a larger size that was $7.49, but they were OOS.

That was it for today. Nothing went exactly as planned by it did work out in the end. Now I get to spend the rest of the day making pierogi while I try and sneak peeks of football in. Think hubby will notice?

How did your shopping go this morning? As expected, or did you make changes?

I got a late start this morning and we don’t even get snow! I found everything I wanted except for the Nivea…they were out of stock. Thankfully, there are plenty of CVS stores around here so I’ll go out later to get it.

My regular CVS had TONS of Thermacare…but they had new and old stock so I had to be careful which one to get b/c the $1 Thermacare Q will beep if it does not match the box. The $1 printable Thermacare Q has a UPC of 5 00573 35076…the Thermacare must have 00573 on the box so that the Q doesn’t beep.

Wylene December 20, 2009 at 2:51 pm

My shopping went ok this morning…only stop besides Kroger was CVS where they were totally out of the Thermacare wraps. I couldn’t find the sleep aid either. But I purchased the Nivea, Revlon lipstick, some Glade products and a bag of tea lights to reach the $30. I was going to buy some Sugar Free Russell Stover for my hubby but those were OOS too. Oh, and the funny part – I left my ECBs at home. Ha. A lot of good they will do sitting on my desk! At least EBCs don’t expire as fast as Register Rewards.

Sara December 20, 2009 at 5:21 pm

I have a question about something Ms Benjamins brought up. I see blogs all the time that match coupons to offers that’s not for the exact item.

“The $1 printable Thermacare Q has a UPC of 5 00573 35076…the Thermacare must have 00573 on the box so that the Q doesn’t beep.”

So as long as the first 6 upc numbers are on the box, then you can use the coupon, even if it’s not exactly for the same thing??

I hope my question makes sense! I’ve asked it before on other blogs and never gotten an answer.

Reply

admin December 20, 2009 at 5:42 pm

Hi Sara,

I do not decode, but know enough to know the answer to your question is no. The 00573 is the manufacturer identifier. Every coupon from Wyeth is NOT going to come off any Wyeth product. Every Wyeth Thermacare coupon is NOT going to come off every Wyeth Thermacare product.

If there isn’t an extended bar code, there are still five other numbers that come off afterwards and those 5 numbers all mean something. The 76 should be $1/1 item purchased. What I do not know is what the 350 means.

Probably more than you expected from a non-decoder. :-P

I will tell you that as all manufacturer coupons go to the extended bar codes, and as more drug stores and supermarkets get the scanner technology that will read the extended bar codes on a coupon, you will see less and less of what was written above. The extended bar codes are designed to end coupon decoding.

I have a question- my revlon coupons beeped and the cashier wouldn’t push it through…any idea why? Also my store limited the thermacare to 1 ?! How can they do that when it says limit 5 in the ad, when I said this she said it was because all she had was what she had on hand (ummm, I have gotten there for hats and such and they have been out, so why limit this?) plus I had gotten them somewhere she didn’t even know that they were there, so I hadn’t seen her written limit on them, so she gave them to me, so obviously she doesn’t even know how many she has!

Hi Janel,

My Revlon coupon did not beep. That’s odd. Did you use the one from the insert or one from People magazine (or some other magazine)?

From the 12/13 SS…I plan on going back and using a different cashier (I have no idea why it wouldn’t have worked, so…)

I used the one from the 12/13/09 too. Weird.

My Revlons didn’t beep either. I ventured out to the CVS that I hate b/c there was snow everywhere, and this was the closer and it was 3 pm already. Still, pushing a stroller through slush and snow is not easy as I discovered. The sidewalks near our building were nicely shoveled but not so for the other ones and also at the crosswalks – snow was still everywhere.

There was no listerine left that I wanted. I grabbed the last bottle of Nivea. There were no Thermacares – and they only let me get a raincheck for “1″ instead of “5″. Whatever, I know the deal at this store. They did have the Complete. I forgot to use my $1 cpn. I stopped into RA but I didn’t get a P&G insert so I didn’t buy anything – waiting for my parents to come for the holidays before shopping.
