Rite Aid Money Makers starting 8/29/10
Best Walgreens Deals starting 8/29/10
Best CVS Deals beginning 8/29/10
******

This is a long post as we went to a lot of stores this morning.

Hubby and I left the house a bit after 8:30am and went to CVS. This is a fairly new store, so they are not getting the delivery items other stores are receiving. I went in this morning looking for a Bonus Days product. I wanted the Popcorn, Indiana.

Well, the store had almost no Bonus Days products and the manager was extremely apologetic and really, really SMART! He told me to take anything off the shelf, he’d adjust the price down and give me the ECB!!

I wasn’t hearing him correctly (I was completely baffled) and hubby actually had to verbally nudge me into taking him up on the deal.

So this was my CVS this morning:

(4) $2 Popcorn, Indiana
(2) Glade Sense & Spray
= $18
- (2) $1 Poprcorn Indiana coupons (I did not push, but I am sure they’d have taken 4 coupons)
- (2) $3 sense & spray coupons
= $10
- $7.99 ECB from last week
= $2.01 + I received (1) $5 ECB and (2) $1 ECB

and since they did not have the numbers for the Popcorn, Indiana offer means I have not used up any of my limit three on that offer.

Absolutely outstanding customer service from this CVS manager.

After that it was off to Rite Aid. We went to two stores, and I did not get any of the free after SCR items. I received an email from a family member on Friday requesting Depends, so I decided to do the Kimberly Clark offer. Store #2 (orders 2 and 3) was completely hubby’s orders.

Order #1

Kotex Maxi Pads 2/$7
Kotex Liners 2/$7
Depend $12.99
= $26.99
- $5/$25 RA coupon
= $21.99
- $2 adperk coupon
= $19.99
- $5 manufacturer coupons
= $14.99
- $5 SCR
= $9.99
- $4 SCR
= $5.99 + Receive (1) $3 +Up reward and (1) $3 +Up reward

Order #2

(2) Protein Powder $16.99, $8.49
(2) Newspapers $3.20
= $28.68
- $5/$25 RA coupon
= $23.68

Order #3

(5) Chocolate bars $5
(3) Balls $1.49 each
(4) Pop 4/$14
= $23.47
- $5/$20 RA coupon (last one *sniff*)
= $18.47
- $6 +Up reward from order #1
= $12.47 + Received (1) $3 +Up reward and (1) $1 +Up reward

Did this backward, should have switched up order #3 with #2 and used the order #3 +Up rewards immediately for $4 less OOP

And then I figured, WTH and went to Walgreens

Now since this is the “rich people’s Walgreens ” it did not surprise me to see the Air Wick was $4.24 not $3.99. Also Karen, the wonderful cosmetic lady was working so when we had a problem with our order, she knew immediately what to do:

(3) Diet Pepsi $12
(4) Arizona 2/$1
(4) Air wick $4.24
= $30.96
- (4) $4 coupons
= $14.96

A $5 RR did NOT print for the Pepsi, so the MOD gave us a $5 gift card instead of making me send for the RR! Very nice!

I immediately used it on (3) Newspapers and paid $1 instead of $6.

Our final stop was Tops.

(4) Kellogg’s Cinnabon $1.99
(4) Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Cinnamon $2.99
(2) Keebler Cookies $2.50
(4) Heluva Good Cheese $2
(4) Coke 4/$11
(1) Doritos $1.88
(2) B&J Singles $1
(5) Ajax Dish Soap $1
= $52.80
- (4) cinnabon 75¢ coupons doubled
- (4) corn flakes 75¢ coupons doubled
- (4) $2 heluva good cheese coupons
- (1) B&J $1/2 coupon
- (1) Keebler cookie $1/2 coupon
= $30.80 + Received 200 gas points (worth $6) + (1) $10 OYNO Catalina

We spent a lot of money today, but this was not my shopping day … well not really. Hubby was really good at yesterday’s meet-up only asking me twice “can we go now?” I yelled at him the second time he asked, so when he said “pop” and “chocolate” today, that was what we did.

And, a lot of the rest of this will find its way to other family members (and my grandfather is stocked with cereal for a while!).

All-in-all I am quite pleased with today. I enjoy saving other people money as much as I enjoy saving myself cash.

How did you do today? Did everything go as planned? Did you shell out for all the free after SCR offers at Rite Aid? Or did you decide to pass? Details please!

I am still in my jammies! But shopping will happen later today! I do already know that I will be passing on the FAR things at Rite Aid, they are rather random things I know we wont use.

We went to the new Spencerport, NY Tops this am. Wow was that place was busy. Waaaay nicer than the Gates one we normally frequent but not quite as nice as the Pittsford one. I had hoped they would have copied that store to a T, but alas they did not. Aisles were very narrow, maybe they tried to squeeze too much into that little space. Organic section is pretty nice but only one aisle, the deli/takeout/produce area is very oddly configured. I’ll go there again but maybe after the hype dies down in a month. Great customer service, everyone was very pleasant and I didn’t get any hassle with my coupons.

just hit rite aid for a handful of things – my store did not have the candy aisle stocked this morning and i was trying to stack a buy2get1 on m&ms q with a .40 orville redenbacher q with a 1.25 off m&ms and redenbacher q with this week’s sales – when i couldn’t find the right size candy, the clerk just pushed it through – she was really apologetic and kind!

Hi,
Just wanted to comment on the Pepsi deal at Walgreens.
Like you mentioned, the RR did not print for me when I bought the 3. The MOD came over and told me the ad was wrong, it should have been 4 for 12, not 3 for 12. He ended up ringing up the 3 at $4 ea. and the last 1 for .01. The 4 items triggered the RR.
So I got 4 12′s of pepsi and the register reward. Sweet! Of course my hubby was squirming the whole time it took for the MOD to figure it all out!

Today shopping was great – except for a slight problem at Tops. My Catalina’s for the Kellogg’s/etc never come out and I have to go to the front desk – Oh well – at least they gave me $10 in cash!

I received my rebate forms-thank so much!!! I can NEVER find any in my area.
You have been so busy today. I am taking some time off. Rite Aid is so tempting, but I really am trying to declutter.

Nice Meg! Too bad I went to early for the MOD to know.

I agree with Vera. Thank you VERY MUCH for those great forms. The $20 grocery form was amazing. I’ve never seen one like that before. I definitely can’t find forms like that (or just about any forms) around here.

It has been raining here all day but I did make two trips. The first time I went to Rite Aid and the second time I went to another Rite Aid and CVS. Between the two Rite Aids, I managed to get all the FAR items for myself and a friend. At CVS, I got the free Blink Tears and the free with coupon Crest toothpaste. On the way home from the second Rite Aid and CVS, it started to really pour and my umbrella wasn’t all that helpful. I still have one $5/$25 coupon left so I’ll probably make another trip to Rite Aid this week and get some of the rebate items that I haven’t gotten yet. I also want to make it over to Staples and get the printer paper that is .50 after the rebate.

I’m putting off my shopping a few days as this weekend was freshman move in at the local college, and all the stores are too crowded.

Ann, finding two great MODs in one trip is pretty fantastic. I would suggest taking a few minutes to send an email to each store’s customer service line to mention the MOD and the great service you received. If you don’t remember the name, the store location number and date and time should be enough to ensure your comments make it to his or her next performance review. It’s a nice way to thank someone whose great service is rarely noticed, as there is no supervisor on sight (not to mention you’re helping yourself out by encouraging a great manager to stay at a store you use).

I had to go to Walgreens to pick up my monthly prescription, so I decided to get the BOGO Starbucks ice cream. Mine didn’t have the coffee free, so I used 2 $1 off coupons for the regular. Paid $2.79 for 2 pints. Not a great price for ice cream, but I really like that kind. :)

I tried to print off the $2 listerine zero coupon yesterday and it wouldn’t let me b/c it said I wasn’t 21!! I put my b-day in right, so I don’t know what happened. *sigh*

I think I’ll stop in tomorrow for the cheap Cottonelle and Listerine.

Buy 4 Cottonelle $25.96
- $5/$25
- $2 using Jul and Aug RA Video Values coupons
- $4 using (4) $1 Cottonelle coupons
final = $14.96, get $5 SCR # 10 and $5 SCR #148 = $4.96 = $1.24 each!

I headed to Rite Aid for the free Salonpas and Bengay. Since I had 2 adperk coupons for the Garnier Nutrioniste – 1 from July & 1 from August – I added those 2 to the order. It was a nice surprise to have 2 $3 Garnier UP+ rewards printed since the limit was supposed to be 1 per household?

I also just found out that my next business trip will take me to Florida, where there is no Rite Aid. Exploring Publix should be fun though.

i went to target to get some almost free friskies treats used
4- $1 off from todays paper with bogo for 3 weeks ago paid $0.42/2
than i went to the rite aid by target in the “rich” area i got to say i was surprised not only is it cleaner, better stocked, and have nicer sales people the store is almost completely EMPTY of other shoppers @ 3pm on a sunday how wonderful is that i did 3 orders without being rushed it was great they took the printed coupons without a problem and was able to do the huggies deal with the ad perks 2x on the same order and the ups printed for both i think thats my new favorite rite aid totally worth the trip out the way

ps the $2 john frieda coupon works on the travel sizes!!

I managed to unload about $22 in +UPs at RA. I still have about $7 remaining so I would like to flip them into the Cottonelle. So I can clear myself of these +UPs, although I need Huggies which comes with a +UP. I only got a few of the expensive FAR/almost FAR items. I doubt there will be much FAR items left here after this morning but they aren’t items that we use anyways.

I stopped by CVS and managed to dig out the final Blink Gel to roll some expiring ECBs but not without a long scratch to the arm. I still have a few more ECBs to use. Nothing exciting at all. But then we met up with friends for lunch for a big $25 meal. So much for savings, but it was much more fun with friends than the shopping.

I did 4 sep. transactions w/ hubby going and cashing out and me still shopping at my fav. RA today. The 2st transaction went off w/o a hitch, the KC one w/ the cottonelle. The 2nd one they wouldn’t take the Biorin coupon. Hubby ended up leaving the product and they never took back the $5/25 so he paid $4.00 OOP, okay…
3rd& 4th transaction, (me). they wouldn’t take the biorin cpn again, I ended up leaving it totally and subbing the Orville Redenbacher popcorn instead.

All in all… ( too lazy to go get my receipts :) ) I ended up spending about $31.00 OOP (using GC’s it was $4.00) and will get back over $58.00
So… thank to Ann yet again… another wonderful week!!!

I have to start looking at other stores, I think my RA’s think I’m sketchy, lol!!!! ;)

Looks like I missed Cottonelle deal. Thank you ladies for pointing it out. Need to go back to Rite Aid. I was there this AM and got a few FAR items. They did not have all of them but I still did alright.

I was so tired of shopping after this past week. I had made 2 trips per day to Kroger’s 7 days straight. I did not want to see another store today. They had a great sale on sobe water which made me 30 cents per bottle. Each time I went I would buy 50 bottles giving me an overage of $15.00 which I used to purchase meat. I also had 12 different rebates that needed these items to complete. I had a great week, 700 bottles of water, $210 in meat and $280 rebates. My husband helped me today load the whole back of the truck and take my months worth of free (or pennies) food to church. Our church does three days a month at the local soup kitchen. We feed about 100 people 3 meals a day. I still shake my head every time I figure up that I can make 900 meals for about $200.00 out of pocket (which I will get back from rebates).
The director of the shelter says that we fix the best food they have all month long.

I went to RA bought 4 ben gay in two different orders and guess what? UP rewards printed for all of them even the transaction that I bought 3 at once. Surprise! I was not expecting that, I made $1.61 on each one between my 20% off, coupons and the up reward. I will be doing that deal again later this week, I have to go back for joint juice anyway, because they were out.

Thank you Ann for the Jimmy Dean coupons from your contest, they went well with the Tops gas deal. Tops before coupons $266.36 after $102.36 plus I earn .70 cents off gas and $10 rr. I think that is pretty good for a family of 7. I did spend more than usual and I might go back, which leads me to this question ……. Ann do you think that the Tops coupon $5 of $20 back to school purchases could be used in combination with program #2 gas points example clorox wipes (a lot of schools are requiring wipes to be brought in) the coupon says excludes grocery, dairy, frozen, meat, deli, produce and health + beauty care. I question it because they are letting tissues count. What do you think?

Reply

Jennifer August 22, 2010 at 9:10 pm

I went to a few CVS to do the blink deal, and bought calculators for my daughter (they had $5 off $20 caliber purchase, plus I had a $5 off $15, so basically I got two scientific calculators for $10, which is less than I would have paid for one).

Reply

admin August 22, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Ida if they are letting tissues go through, that means the coupon is looking to see if $20 in the grocery/taxable (non-food stamp eligible) department will go through. That means anything in grocery taxable (non food stamp eligible) will work and $5/$20 will come off. Theoretically, pet food should work, laundry soap, cleaners, paper plates, napkins, storage bags, trash bags, etc.

Ann

Reply

Ida August 22, 2010 at 9:33 pm

Well I guess that means I’ll be heading back to Tops to find out that should be a good deal if I buy 6 clorox wipes 2/$5 and 5 ajax dish soap $5 that would total to $20 I could then use the $5/20 = $15- 6 $1 clorox wipes coupons = $9 and get 400 gas points= about $12

Humm, I guess even if they don’t take the coupon $2 for all those clorox wipes would be well worth it.

You know, I have been really surprised(and pleased) with Walgreens customer service lately. I think there’s new management at my store and every one is really friendly. I got the Listerine Zero that was supposed to be on sale for 2.99 in the ad, but it rang up 4.49. I went back later and explained the situation and the manager even apologized to me! I’m not used to that from Wags! Maybe they finally heard all the grumbling we’ve been doing about their service!

I’m saving diapers for when my daughter gets pregnant and I hope to be able to buy enough to cover the first year of the baby’s life. Diapers are sooo expensive for families just starting out and maybe I can accumulate enough during the next couple of years.

Plus we are now well stocked up on tissue paper and paper towels. I use the office supplies regularly in my work so this was a big help. The arthritis pain medicines were a bonus. Anyone else have thumb pain? Ouch! I’m also grateful to have the 13 single serving drinks on hand in the fridge for these hot days we work in the yard.

Sadly though – DH has forbidden me from buying anymore body wash, deodorant, tissue paper, paper towels and a few other items for a while.

It looks like everyone had a pretty good shopping day! Way to go guys :)

I didn’t get to any RA today, so sad about that but I guess the exhaustion of pregnancy is setting in. So cool to see more then one +UP printing for multiples of the same product. I have 2 Huggies free coupons that I wanted to use this week, hopefully 2 rewards will print. Ann, can I use a free coupon and a RA video coupon on one product, i.e. trying to get coupon overage? What do you think? I love that you went shopping for your family, so sweet, that would make me happy too!

Sorry – the rebate form states the purchase had to be made by 8/20. If you purchased one between 6/20 – 8/20, you can still submit it by 9/20. It refunds your total purchase price up to $8.99. Limit 1 per family and/or address.

SAHMinCambridge – there is also a KC SCR in Sept that includes the Huggies Jumbos so you could save the frees for that. It’s one of the Buy $25, get $10 GC or something like that. Just a thought. I’m debating whether to save my Free cpns for that, and just use the $2 VV and $2 mfg this week.

So found out about the Garnier so I had to give it a try and also I am out of Size 4 diapers. My goals for potty training were a little too ambitious I guess. I got 2 Garniers, 1 newspaper (good thing cause all the other stores closed before I could get 1), Huggies, 2 FAR items and what I thought would be a $1 or so, turned out to be a $3 MM after everything (SCR, +UPs, cpns). Finally very happy about that. I was too chicken to try more Garniers.

Reply

Jennifer August 22, 2010 at 11:52 pm

My Rite Aid was fully stocked with the free-after-SCR items. However, I only had one $5/$25 coupon, so I could only get a few things (and we needed Huggies). I really need another $5/$25 coupon!! (I was happily surprised, though, that my 10% off non-Rx items with my card applied to newspapers!)

(the stores I go by are all in the “rich peoples” section. Oh well, I’ll get what I can! I just prefer making money rather than just getting things for free.
