Hubby and I were at Rite Aid promptly at 9 am. I was ready to walk if the cashier from two weeks ago was checking out. She was so clueless I’ll pass and go to another store rather than have another bad Rite Aid experience.
Instead, it was the 20-something guy whose attitude is “if it scans, great, if not, I’ll push it through”. Loooooove this guy.
Now yesterday, Yvonne mentioned that the $10 +Up rewards expired on the 17th, so I went last night and got generic-Zyrtec for the dog. That meant I did not have any +Up rewards to use today. Hubby put a slight wrench in this morning’s plans by adding to my order, so I think I left $5 on the table when I did not break this up into two orders:
(1) Dulcolax Balance $9.99
(1) Colonaide All Natural Internal Cleansing Kit $22.99 (not my idea)
(1) Motrin PM 20ct $5.39
(2) Garnier $11.32 (I have 10% off, and they were $6.29 at my store)
(1) Zegerid 14ct; $10
(1) Liquid Plumr $3.49 (hubby decided we “needed” it)
(1) Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move (16 ct) $3.69
= $66.87
- $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon
= $61.87
- $3 zegerid adperk coupon
= $58.87
- (2) $5 in-ad garnier coupons
= $48.87
- (1) $3 in-ad Mortrin coupon
= $45.97
- $3 in-ad zegerid coupon
= $42.87
- $5 dulcolax coupon (no idea where I got this from)
- (2) $1 garnier coupons
- $3 Motrin coupon
- $4 zegerid coupon
- 55¢ on pack liquid plumbr coupon
= $28.32
- $36.67 SCR
= $8.35 Profit
- $10 zegerid mail in rebate (from the Sunday inserts)
= $18.35 profit + Received (1) $7 +Up reward and (1) $3 +Up reward and (1) $2 +Up reward and (1) $1 +Up reward
Excellent trip to Rite Aid even with missing out on $5.
After that, we went to Target where I got pens, Pepperidge Farms bags (on TPC), Werther’s bagged candy for free (3oz size is $1 – $1 manufacturer coupon 5/9/10 insert= FREE), and hubby got some clearanced beans.
The pens rang up 60¢ and I got 10 packs
I handed the cashier (5) $1/2 coupons
The coupons scanned off at 60¢ each
Now, instead of making a fuss, I have so many of these BIC coupons I decided to hand over 5 more and get the pens for free rather than pay 10¢ each.
However, the last coupon scanned off at $1
So, I made a 40¢ profit on the pens, but did not use the Target $1/2 coupon.
This was at the East Amherst store for those having troubles in the past, and the clerk did not blink at 10 alike coupons.
We then went across the street to Valu to get hubby a trellis for his blackberry plants.
And that it was off to Tops where the order came to $82 AFTER coupons. Getting Max dog food is crazy expensive. A good $60 of this order was dog food (pet select) and reduced meats.
Then I dropped hubby off at Big Lots so he could get a head start on using the 20% off coupon.
In the mean time, I went to Barnes & Noble and Petco (for more dog food that Max will condescend to eat).
I dropped hubby off, went to Petco, gathered my items, checked out, when back to the car, went in to B&N, goofed around, gathered some books, checked out, went back to the card, drove back to Big Lots, and hubby was not finished.
It was an hour later.
We spent an additional 45 minutes in Big Lots. *sigh*
An hour and 45 minutes in Big Lots today means I should have major brownie points stored up. I was practically crawling the walls when we headed to the register. No one should have to endure almost two hours shopping at any store.
After loading all the cr.. er, products he spent $60 on at Big Lots AFTER 20% coupon, it was finally time to go home.
Major highs and lows today, but since I had not been shopping in so long, it was overdue.
How did you do this morning? Get any great deals? Did everything go as planned, or did you have to make changes on the fly?

I had to make changes on the fly, but they were good changes. I was pouting on Friday because I was not going to get any zegrid at RA (short ad) but aparently I was wrong. For some reason the short ad added the zegrid. What a blessing. I got six months supply. Free is much better than paying my perscription co-pay of $22.00 a month. OTC seems to work just as good as the expensive stuff. I did also find out that a limit has been set on how many up rewards can be earned on one card per item. After two ups on one card they were not printing anymore so I switched to another card. I did loose (2) $7 ups but I will live and learn and I really got what I was after anyways, which was FREE MEDS.
I think after reading your RA purchases, that all “pipes” in your household should be clean and running smoothly!!
I was bummed that the UP rewards weren’t rolling at RA. I spent $19.94 OOP to get back $44.66 SCR. Also spent all the UP rewards I earned. I did multiple deals. Got the cryoSTAT. Did not use VV with insert coupons like you did. Still for 2 hours work I made $24.72 plus Zegerid rebate. I also got cottonelle and some candy bars. I really do like to get RA deals done all at once. I don’t like running from store to store. I had to go to 2 today and I’m done.
Skipping Wags unless I drop in some time to get the pens if they have any.
Will do CVS when I can make it back with the ice cream!
I did the zegrid/motrin deal 2x. Got +up for both deals. My store is lightly stocked so I don’t push it. I do deals throughout the week to gives others a chance. I really hope tomorrow allows more +up on zegrid/motrin. But still will buy to get other items free or for pennies.
Went to Big Lots with the kids. Not the brightest thing I did today and I forgot to scan my Big Lots reward card. I only shop at BL on 20% off sales, so spending $35 was not too bad. Mostly I picked up things for the house like shower curtains, bins, more sippy cups (where do they all go?), and we could not leave without a 3 foot tall patriotic pinwheel. Of course the kids could not share the pinwheel, so I have two outside in a potted plant.
I did very good. I went to CVS cuz I had ECB that were exp. I bought 2 Pantene, 1 Veet and 3 M&M’s (don’t ask, the cashier got confused and I could care less seriously, she was a sweetie, young and sweet and I just wanted… OUT OF THERE!
I paid after ECB, $3.62 OOP and got back $5.00.
Moving on to RA. 3 sep. transactions.
First one was the Zegrid/Motrin/Dulcolax deal. My 20% kicked in somehow and they wouldn’t take my last $4.00 Dulcolax, I asked them to void my $1.00 VV Motrin, she did, she overrode the Ducolax and I paid $.65 OOP. I received $7.00 UP for Zegrid, $2.00 Motrin and will get back $9.99 for Dulcolax.
2nd Transaction I waited since more customers came…I just kept pushing them thru till I was finally the last one.
I did the P&G thing where I bough 2 CG mascaras, 2 CG eye enhancers, 3 Pantene stylers.
I paid $5.43 OOP and received back “THREE $2.00 Pantene UP rewards” (in a row, do you believe it, how the heck did that happen)???? I will get back a $5.00 SCR for the CG. I also will wait for the receipt to clear and will submit for the $10.00 P&G rebate.
3rd transaction:
2 Butter fingers (had a free FB cpn)
2 M&M’s (one pretzel)
2 Garnier
2 Cutex nail removers, 1 pads
1 Smooth Move Tea
Received, $3.00 UP Garnier, will receive, $4.99 SCR. $3,69 for the tea, and .30 for one Cutex nail polish remover, and $1.00 for the other…
All in all it was a very easy profitable day! PC @ RA during 3rd transaction was beeping like crazy for some reason.. totally made me nervous even though I knew I was good, it still made me uncomfortable!!
I’m soooo frustrated with the Rite Aid up rewards!!!
I went to Rite Aid #1 and zegerid and motrin up rewards printed.
At Rite Aid #2 the rewards didn’t print. After a line grew behind me the manager got so frustrated that she handed me $9 cash out of the register!
At Rite Aid #3 I bought three additional items that had UP rewards to see what would happen. The three new rewards printed, but not the zegerid or motrin! This manager wouldn’t do anything. She took my name and number and said someone would call me tomorrow.
It really makes me mad because I have nine of the zegerid coupons. I’ve been at the 20% off level since June and I spend alot of money at Rite Aid. I’ve pretty much given up Walgreens and CVS. I’ve been buying most of my groceries there, but now I never know what reward will print out! I didn’t want to sign up for another reward card (I didn’t think I had to, mine should work!) but now I might.
I heard that the Zegerid is only printing one per wellness card. So I did not push that. I don’t know if it’s really true but sounds like psuedo limits +UP on the meds. My stores won’t take PDF cpns or they really give you a hard time and for $2-$4, I passed on the savings. I didn’t have a huge money maker like everyone else but at least my one pack of diapers were free.
I had to go to 3 stores, they don’t like me doing multiple transactions and I can’t use 2 in-ad cpns in one transaction, and can’t use a VV with an in-ad. The first transaction was a flop, I barely broken even – and really spent $3.xx on the 2nd Garnier wipes that I didn’t need. I may exchange for the cleanser as I do use that. 2nd one, did a little better – $2MM or something. 3rd one, same thing. I don’t have the Zegerid TMF so if I got some forms, I may be able to salvage some more money. There were NO smooth moves in 3 stores – cleared out and I was there 30 minutes after opening in 2 stores. 2 stores had no Dulculox but I don’t have the $3 cpn yet anyways.
Thanks for the scenarios. I feel a little bad that everyone had such huge MMs but I didn’t… but such is! I wish I had more friendly stores. One cashier scanned the first cpn and then asked sarcastically, “you have more coupons?” Sigh.
I will try CVS later this week.
Hi Liz,
That stinks that your stores aren’t coupon friendly. What I like about Rite aid is they have an actual coupon policy that I keep with me. For the most part, the cashiers at my stores are friendly.
If they have started putting a limit on UP rewards, it should say that in the ad. The only reason I went to the third Rite Aid today was that I was at a picnic and they needed more hot dog rolls. I volunteered to drive the 12 miles into town planning to purchase the rolls at rite aid and get the $9 MM to cover it. If they have made a limit it seems like false advertising, because I would have just gone to the grocery store and got the rolls….
The 5.00 dollars left on the table as you mensioned, was it a regular coupon or a rite aid? ONly reason that I ask is, I was told that if you “missed” a coupon (as in left at home) you can bring it in with your reciept and get the money back. It has to be within the same week (I believe) so you can’t find a Q after the date you got the product and bring that in. I didn’t know this until my “favorite” Rite aid cashier told me about it. I mensioned that I had a q at home and she said to bring it in with the reciept and they give the money back. Sooo now I have done this. Not to often but a few times.
Also found out Target can do this as well. Yippie if you get the right cashier that is……
