I went into Sonny-boy’s room this morning to see if he wanted to take me to breakfast. After his fifth mumbled reply, I finally understood him to say he would make me breakfast, but it would be “later”.
Figuring I had until at least noon to shop, I headed out the door.
My first stop was Walgreens where I did the following:
(1) Schick Hydro $7.99
(1) EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream $2.99
(1) Tuf Paper Towel 59¢
= $11.57
- $5 manufacturer coupon
- (2) $3 RR
= 57¢
I did two orders, then went down to a second Walgreen’s where it dawned on me that I had screwed up yesterday! I had (8) $3 RR, so that meant I’d get (4) $5 RR + (4) $3 RR not the eight I figured out yesterday.
The second Walgreen’s had peeps for 19¢ so this worked out link this:
(1) Schick Hydro $7.99
(1) EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream $2.99
(1) Peep 19¢
= $11.17
- $5 manufacturer coupon
- (2) $3 RR
= 17¢
Note to locals: The Walgreen’s on Transit & Greiner will again be a 24 hour store starting Sunday, May 16th.
I spent $1.48 (plus tax) and ended up with $32 in RR.
Because I figured out the RR incorrectly, I had a bunch of Schick coupons left so I headed to CVS.
The first CVS I went to was completely out of Schick razors, so I got a raincheck. I have a question about the CVS rainchecks:
My assumption is that since I was able to get the Schick at the second store, the system will keep track of that fact and I will not be able to circumvent the “limit one (1)” maximum. Buuuut hypothetically speaking, say I was to forget that fact and use the raincheck after the event code expires and they will need to force the ECB; when exactly does the event code expire? This is all just for informational purposes you understand.
So my CVS deal looked like this at store #2:
(1) Crest Rinse $3.50
(1) Schick Hydro $8.99
= $12.49
- (1) $5 manufacturer coupon
- (1) $1 manufacturer coupon
= $6.49
- $5 ECB I had to flip
= $1.49 + I receive (1) $4 ECB + (1) $3.50 ECB
I’ll have to flip one more time before the store near me opens on June 27th (assuming they do not push back the opening date yet again).
On the way home I stopped at a Wegman’s I never go to because the weekday traffic outside this place is normally awful. This store was crazy … there were tear pad coupons and mail in rebate forms hanging in the aisles! At Wegmans. My guess is that due to the traffic, a lot of other people also avoid this store too, hence tear pads that are full instead of just the cardboard backing.
Unlike the Wegmans nearest to me, this store had single rolls of VIVA paper towels. They are $1.99 – 85¢ coupon doubled = 29¢ Tops sells the single rolls for $2.49!
However, the Brown Minute Rice was $3.49 at Wegmans, and, Tops sells the Brown Minute Rice for $2.45 and $2.59 depending on the size. I stopped on the way home to double check.
Once again the lessen is to never trust ANY store to “always” have the lowest price. Shop and compare. Store A may be cheaper on X, Y and Z, while Store B is cheaper on U, V and W. factoring in your time and savings, it very well may behoove you to keep a Price Book so you can pick up products at store X, Y and Z once a month.
And speaking of Tops, the morning paper had a $5/$50+ Tops coupon stuck to the front page.
And that was it. It did feel weird not going to Rite Aid to gather the money makers. I still have to stop at Target later today or tomorrow.
Did you stay home (or go out for) and enjoy a nice, leisurely breakfast? Or did you head out and shop the sales? What deals did you find? What problems did you encounter? And what else should be all run out and “purchase” today?

Hi Ann
Where was the .85 coupon for the VIVA from? was it an IP? Thanks

Hi Christina,
Mine were from the 4/25/10 SS insert. You can always check insert coupons here
There is a 50¢/2 printable here and another one here

I often get two of the “limit one” EB deals. Like you did, I get a rain check when they are out of stock in the begining of the week, then stop later to buy the item. Then in the begining of the following week I get the second item. I’ve never had a problem, and as a bonus, they have always rounded up. If the EBs were supposed to be $4.49, they will give me $5. I totally love CVS! I don’t feel too guilty, hubby doesn’t have his own card, and if he did we would have bought two anyway, right?
Thanks Stephanie!

You left us in suspense! Did you get breakfast made for you or not?! :-p
Whoops, sorry Dian. I finally got “breakfast” at 12:30 pm.

i did pretty well this morning. i headed to farm fresh to drop food off the for the food bank, then we went to rite aid and they only had 2 of the fresh start, so i didn’t get anything there, and then we went to cvs and i got 2 mouth rinse and kotex u for $1.50 got back 12 ECB. and then my hubs saw the rite aid across the street and went there and ta-da they had plenty of start fresh and pure and naturals. i forgot that they would ring up as 3.29 because there was no price tags on them so in my mind i was thinking they would ring up for 5.50 and i got 4 of those 2 drinks, 1 pure and natural, well then they rang up at 3.29 and i had them scan my hubs beer so i wouldn’t be in the negative, paid around $4.50.
i still have to hit target and walmart, but i’ll be doing that tomorrow or late tonight, i’m not sure yet.
I was running put of paper towels so Rite Aid sale was very timely. Of course I “had to buy” free treseme fresh to get those and milk free. I am not sure what to do with all that treseme hair dry clean stuff??? Everything went as planned. Thanks for the write ups, Ann!
I had a great trip at Walgreens, of all places. The Wags I go to by my parents is always wonderful and the ladies there are so helpful! My cashier tonight joked that “we’re paying you to take this!” and she was excited to learn that the razor coupon was for $5. =) I bought one of the shavers, one leave-in Infusium, one 7-Up and clearance tic-tacs for $4.24. I left with a $5. Not bad considering I had no RR to roll. =)
Totally living vicariously through everyone’s posts! I finish finals on Thursday, didn’t even celebrate Mother’s Day yesterday, will have to delay all the festivities till next weekend!
