Sunday Morning Shopping

by Ann on February 7, 2010

My Sunday Morning shopping is going to consist of recalling where Amy from Saving With Amy told me to get the papers for 99¢ (she’s local to Nashville), or heading over to Walgreens and “pay” full price with all the free Register Rewards I earned last week.

Sad part? I swear she said it was CVS that had them for cheap, and I did not bring my ECB with me! *head bang*

I will save Rite Aid for mid-week – when I am home and after the truck makes another delivery.

So, how did you do this morning? I know I didn’t do a “must do” round-up yesterday, and I neglected the grocery store write-ups this week due to time constraints (I am soooooo sorry), but you figured it out I am sure! So, tellmetellmetellmeeeeeee whadja do?

Today was interesting for us. We went to walmart first and i was getting all those games (gifts for family and what’s left over i’m going to give for the toys for tots this xmas or some other donation drive like that). The only coupons i had problems with was the sorry game and the reach floss or toothbrush. the both “scanned” but it beeped, requiring a CSM override. they keep telling me that they can’t accept a coupon that won’t scan. which the wording is all wrong. it does technically scan. they didn’t even really read the coupon. and on top of that the first csm walked away, i have no idea why and it was really rude. and then the 2nd csm that came over had told the cashier to not accept bogo coupons, WHAT!!!????!!! i knew she was wrong but unfortunately i didn’t have the coupon policy with me, argghhhh. should have known i would need it one of these days. but if i do see that csm again and that cashier i will show them the policy myself. i did write to walmart corporate about this coupon issue. i’m not sure what they will write back to me. they did take my bogo coupons though because if they didn’t i would not have been pleasant at all. and it took over 20 min to resolve the issue which in the end i didnt get the sorry card game or the reach floss.

so off to target we go, and i did ok in there, not too many problems, a couple of beeps but they just hit the ok button, yay :D

then to walgreens, which i sorta messed up on, but that’s ok, and i did write to walgreens about the lovely cashier that is very patient and nice to us, she has become my favorite. one of the john frieda had a sticker that says purchase in comestics, but the lady there does not look nice and we had the feeling that she was watching us, i guess making sure that we dont steal anything, but i don’t put anything in my pockets, even if my arms are full of stuff, i dont want to any one second guess our honesty.

and we went to rite aid, i got extra candy that i wasn’t going to get but that’s for the hubs, one bag is for me, and the other 2 are for him. not to mention that i’m really excited for the candy deal at wags next week.
by the way the manager said that their coupon policy is about to change, she said if it doesn’t scan they will no longer accept them. so just a heads up.

and i went to cvs, that was our last stop. they didn’t have the trident layers gum, again but different store. my hubs said he thinks they sell them at the commissary for a dollar so i’m gonna have him get it over there with the coupons.

over all we did pretty well. atleast i think so anyway.

i bought the lindt truffles at target last week, can you believe my hubs ATE IT ALL IN ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats 12 pieces not to mention all the calories. shhhh i’m calculating his candy consumption habit for this year and it’s gonna be high!

Just went to Wags for 10 papers which I got mostly with RR’s. The rest of the stores can wait ’till later in the week. Some days I am not in the mood to deal with cashiers.

Congrats DD on all you got done! Now I’m going to have to see what candy is on sale at Wags next week! LOL

Wow DD, great shopping!

Like Wendy, I just hit Walgreens for papers and paid with RR. I’ll stop everywhere else sometime this week when I get situated and organized.

I went to Rite Aid first and got 8 Nivea body washes (I only had 8 $2 coupons). I used a $5/$20 and the 8 $2 coupons, paid $4.60 and will get a $5 gift card. They didn’t have the Dove Men + Care that is supposed to be FAR this week. On the way to Target, I passed another Rite Aid but I couldn’t find it there either.

Next I went to Target to get the Quaker instant oatmeal. I had 10 $1 coupons so I went through the line twice. The first cashier was very nice. The second cashier told me that I could only use one coupon!!! She did call someone over who said that if I was getting 5 oatmeals, I could use 5 coupons. After the coupons and the $5 gift card you got for buying 5, each box of oatmeal cost 75 cents.

Next I went to Walgreens to use my $8 RR from last week. I got the Dove Men + Care, 3 boxes of Kleenex and a Tic Tac and ended up spending $1.01 (mostly sales tax) and got a $6 RR.

My last stop was Stop & Shop. I had a bunch of free coupons that I wanted to use up since many of them would expire at the end of the month. I ended up spending $10.13 ($1.36 was sales tax) for $43.94 worth of stuff.

All in all, it was a pretty good day.

To begin with I apologize. SPOILER ALERT. This is about CHOCOLATE. The only Wags deal I did today was the Ghiradelli Chocolate bars. With the In-Ad Coupon and the one in the Feb. booklet. $1 each. Heaven…… Those are Heaven. Today only 4 and paid with an RR. Have to go later in the week when I get all organized and figure out what the family needs.

We did go to Yankee Candle today to exchange my candle order I accidentally ordered (sent the order twice/paid twice) when they had the 75% I think by accident. I had bought 4 candles and received them then they shipped a second order. I called and was told to go and exchange the duplicate order. So, I exchanged 4 spring candles for others and each large jar was 6.25. I felt like I was robbing them. Hubby was dancing over that practically. Normally, I don’t feel bad but that was just awesome. So, I have candles until next year. Also, we did Auntie Annes and got free pretzels for later today.

The only thing I bought today was papers and theater candy with my register rewards at Walgreens, because we were on the way to see Avitar in Imax 3D! (Fourty-four dollars for one adult and two kids!) It was really good. :-)

My mom was coming in town today, so I only went to Wags. I bought 5 Nabisco cracker products (2 Oreo, 2 Fig Newtons, 1 Lorna Doone), 1 Dove men body & face wash, 1 Schick Quattro trimmer and some maybelline makeup. The cashier didn’t want to take my 5 Nabisco coupons b/c she thought I had too many, so she called the manager over and of course the manager said I could use them b/c I had an equal item to coupon ratio. My total OOP was: $18.89. But I got $9 back in RR and I am submitting for the Schick rebate, so that makes my final OOP cost 90 cents. Yay! =)

I had a killer trip to rite-aid. I went to 2 stores, did 6 transactions – the register actually required mgr approval at the end of the sixth transaction. I figured it was time to leave the store after that :)

I bought….
1 K&Y Intense
2 Dove Men Body Washes
12 Nivea Body Washes
12 Nivea Lip (not sure exactly what they’re called)
1 Finish Powerball dishwashing soap
28 GE light bulbs
I spent $10.17 OOP. Eligible for rebates and gift cards!!

Haven’t hit wags or cvs yet… RiteAid was enough for me for one day.

Happy Couponing!
