I apologize to anyone trying to access my site today. I called godaddy, they said it was a site problem (huh!?), I have gone through the site looking for anything and everything I may have done today. And I am stumped.
To top it off, today is our anniversary and we are heading out shortly leaving the site a mess until I can come home and cry… er attempt to fix it. Heck, if I have to delete everything I wrote since yesterday I will.

As an aside: The site has been slow since LAST NIGHT. Not ‘today’. Assuredly, this thing is going to take a little sleuthing but…go back further-before today.
One more thing on the slowness…but it SEEMS that loading the site is less onerus than attempting to post a comment…Pls try it from a remote location to see if this is true.
Because…I’m thinking that maybe someone posted a comment (which could be anywhere) that has messed you up. (Golly! I hope it’s not me!) Is it possible that someone spammed your comments? How does that work?
We understand that it’s only natural that you assume that it was something YOU did-but what if it wasn’t? We’d hate to lose all those posts of yours. They are really good…. Please don’t delete!
I “think” it might be google having issues again. My husband tried something earlier and google reported problems.
And yes, spammers were my first thought. You should see the crap they try and post. It was my job for the last six years to identify and ban spammers. There is little chance I’d allow anything blatant through.
If it turns slow again tomorrow,I can no longer assume google and I’ll start deleting all links from the last 36 hours or so. I checked the site for any malware and came back clean, so that was a relief.

Yeah probably. I learned that bloggers allow more spamish type comments to promote their blogs than forums do, and other bloggers actually run blog carnivals, Mr Linky (wish I could figure that out, I’d put one up myself) and other memes to allow people to link to their blogs.
I am pretty sure hubby is going to turn off google ads for the day and see if that speeds things up. If it does, looks like I’ll have to pursue some other revenue stream to pay the server bills. If that does not work, we’ll move servers.
Would captcha REALLY deter people from posting?

I still think it is google ads slowing this place down. My husband did some stuff with it yesterday and it started zipping along. Today it is periodically bogged down.
I’m seriously considering moving to a new host too.
It stinks when the cause of a slowdown is not readily apparent.
