Showing My Age?

Oy.

I don’t think I’ve ever filled out my real age or birth date online. It is almost always sometimes in January in my online portfolios, and the year can be anything from 1910 to 1970. Depends what I feel like that day.

Today psssst (General Mills) emailed me (and probably 5000 other people) to complete a survey:

First, the news. Starting February 14, Target stores nationwide will have five limited-edition General Mills cereals featuring fun “retro” package designs and premium offers from the 60s and 80s. The promotion will run for a limited time through March 7. We hope you check them out and share your favorite cereal childhood memories with family and friends.

We’d like you to look back and tell us about toys, games and prizes you remember in or on cereal packages. If General Mills and Target repeat this promotion next year, your feedback may be used to create a new generation of retro packages.

Hmmmm my guess is I used 1950 or 1960 when I signed up with psssst. No wonder I don’t get any of the “good” surveys for nice full size samples.

I filled in Mr Wonderful’s Surprise which was the best cereal EVAH!!! They should bring that back. I’d buy it buy the case. No coupon or sale necessary. It was that good.

After I moved, I didn’t really get anything from them anymore. I should check my profile. However, I did the survey as well the other day. I actually don’t remember many of their promotions in the box. Although i have them all saved in a box in my old room at my parents. So I did mention the one that I really loved – and it was the coupon booklet full of awesome NED cereal cpns (almost all $0.50/1 or $0.60/1′s). I remember my mom bought a ton of boxes during that promo and my siblings & I used to love fishing them out of a brand new box of cheerios and kix I believe. I think the Trix rabbit is the most memorable character following by the honey bee. If only they would bring back the cpn promo (very unlikely in this day & age).

Were the promos much better in your day? ;-) Have them been getting worse?

Ann – I thought that the Rabbit was still on TV too?? I can’t believe that they would do away with the “silly rabbit, trix are for kids.” It was so classic. Also the Lucky Charm dude.

    Oh – i want a retro box! :)

I got this also. I never ate the Trix cereal but, I loved the rabbit. I was strictly a Dig Em Smacks girl (Sugar Smacks today). Also, they didn’t mention it but I did. Remember, I am COO COO for Cocoa Puffs bird. That was great. I loved those commercials. My favorite toy were the puzzles on the box or the ones you got inside with the sliding tiles to make a picture.

I LOVE me some Sugar Smacks and Rice Krispies, but I’m not so crazy about any other of the cereals. I did love the commercials though! I do not like the fact that the 80′s are now considered “retro” and they’re re-doing those things. I’m not retro yet :( and these people are making me feel O-L-D! I haven’t logged into that e-mail account in awhile, but I need to so I can redo my Psst info. That program and Vocalpoint are amazing. I don’t buy cereal often due to the cost, but the coupons they send out make it a lot more affordable so when I see a good sale I just buy a bunch of it. I just have to hide it from hubby! Hell make it his midnight snack and we’ll run out in a week. Ugh. How do you ladies control your hubbs so they don’t eat your stuff all up within a short amount of time?

Maybe the Rabbit is on tv? I don’t know lol! I haven’t seen it or heard it lately. Maybe I just watch the wrong channels, haha!

I remember the Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs bird too!!!!

    Ann,
If you makes you feel any better, I got the survey too! Like many of you, I thought the rabbit and Lucky Charms guy were still on the box/ commercials. I will have to look when I go to the store next time. I never pay attention to that stuff!

I got that survey also, I don’t remember any of the toys or what the boxes looked like. The lucky charms guy was my favorite. I was born in 74,I didn’t realize that 80′s was considered retro! I did get a full size box of Chocolate Cheerios from them the other day and a bunch of $1.25 coupons, it taste like cocoa puffs to me. It was nice cause it was my first mailing from them, another blogger said from time to time they will mail out things.
