Raleigh-Durham North Carolina

by admin on July 30, 2010

After a lovely roller-coaster drive through the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, we arrived in Durham last evening in time to eat dinner and then go directly to the hotel. I will say that the Tennessee mountain scenery was absolutely beautiful! I may have been driving, and there may have been a ton of hairpin turns, but it was so breathtaking I could even appreciate it on the fly. Hubby really had a scenic ride.

We went into Raleigh this morning, and look at what we saw on the way in:

The picture does NOT do it justice. It was, hands down, the nicest KMart I have ever seen. And no holes in the parking lot!

We didn’t see much more of Raleigh though, and now are on the way home.

YAY!

This was one long trip. My highlights, considering we did nothing touristy, were Earth Fare, my Kroger card, and Chick-Fil-A!! I had never been to Chick-Fil-A until this trip, and there were so many along the way we ended up stopping three times, once for lunch, once for breakfast, and once for a milkshake. That was the BEST darned milkshake I ever had in my life!!! I sorta liked Chick-Fil-A. :-)

When I use to travel allot for my job, I would always have a layover at the ATL airport b/c I always flew Delta across country. There is a Chick-Fil-A at the ATL airport!:)

We now have one Chick-Fil-A, here in San Diego. We also have one Sonic in San Diego but that’s almost a hour’s drive. If we could only get a Red Robins closer to the city, it would be all good!

Wow, it seems like “yesterday” you just left… I’m so glad you got to discover our South!! I love Bojangles dirty rice, terrible I know, but I love it. We don’t have a Sonic, miss it terrible from when I lived in SC. I’ve never gone to Chick-A -Fil since Sonic was THE BEST!!

Drive careful and welcome home!

Which terminal Ms Benjamins!? And how did I miss it?

I really like Sonic too, but we did not go this trip. I can always go next time I’m in Utah.

I swear there is a Bojangles on every corner down south, Didi. I did not eat there either.

Wow – you have never been Chick-Fil-A? Well, I didn’t until a college summer internship in Boston area – one of their malls (burlington) has it. They are closed on Sundays I believe. Cool.

I just love everything about them. Every time we go to Florida, we also seek one out. There are tons in Florida! It kinda reminds me of the In-and-Out in Cali.

I missed it in Boston too! And in Florida!

It will not happen again.

Never been to a Chick-fil-a? they don’t have them in Rochester? Really? I never noticed that when we visit. I love the breakfast chicken bites in these little rolls. I would probably dance naked right about now for some. Thanks for planting that in my head! It is after breakfast and they are closed tomorrow so I guess I better got over it!

I am in the Raleigh area and all the Kmarts I know are a little gross. I go there only when I need to get a really good deal (doesn’t happen much). Glad you are back at home now. I traveled for a few weeks at the beginning of the summer and my kids have constantly been sick and I am still not back in the swing of couponing. UGH! We leave for another trip so I think my summer of savings is a bust.
