Last year I wrote a post extolling the virtues of ponying-up $70+ dollars at LL Bean to get one of their bookbags that has a lifetime guarantee.
And, I am again singing their praises.
Sonny-boy is now into his 10th year with an LL Bean backpack; the first one was replaced 4-5 years ago. He’s still schlepping the same backpack around campus that was replaced many years ago. This thing has gone to school, camping and Europe. And, we all know how gentle a teenage boy is with this bookbag. He’s gotten better as he’s aged of course, but that thing has some hard miles on it!
At this point, my initial $70 investment has averaged out to $7 per year. For a bookbag!
Hey, looking at the LLBean website, there’s a kid that has had his for 11 years in a row!
LL Bean Bookbags are now 20% off (I gotta get LL Bean as an affiliate)
If you do decide to go this route, call LL Bean first to ask if their is a minimum purchase price on the backpack that they will guarantee. 1-800-341-4341

My daughter has had hers for 12 years and it has never been replaced. We have washed it when needed and it is still in great condition. Love LL Bean bags. My son has one but it is only 2 years old.
We just ordered my daughter a new one only because she has out grown the color, she has had hers for 7 years. They really hold up. Thanks for posting this I didn’t know L.L.bean repaired items, thats good to know.
Same here. In high school, this was a big deal for me when I got my first LL Bean backpack. The traditional one. I had 2 of them in total… and passed along to my younger siblings. Still have one of them in our bags closet right now. Definitely was a fan of them.
Also – their winter jackets were great too (pricey but lasts!). My mom got me mine in 9th grade if I promised to wear it 4 years. That I did. Then I passed it along to my little brother when I went to college and he wore it. He still wears it. (it’s going on at least 15 years now).
