On May 31st I ran a Holiday Contest where a second entry could be earned for sharing a frugal, deal hunting, couponing, or rebating tip! Some were common sense, some were “wow, I never thought of that!”, some I disagreed with, and some were, er, umm dicey.
So, what I thought I’d do over the next month is take five of those responses daily and give you my take on the advice. I’d love for people to add their thoughts and ideas too. And if this seems familiar, yup I did this last year too! I LOVE my reader’s tips and ideas. No matter how long you play this “game” you can always learn something new. Thank you all for providing your wisdom and insight!

During the summer months use heavy drapes or keep your shades sown to keep the heat out. This will keep your house cooler & save electricity.
And in the winter it keeps your house warmer and draft free… although I have to say sometimes just yearning for daylight on the short winter days makes me forfeit the heat savings.
Thanks Pam!

Best tip I have right now is be organized! There is nothing worse than finding an awesome unadvertised deal at the store and having to sort through a big stack of coupons to try and match them up!
Organization is good. I seldom practice it, but it is good. Thanks Jen!

Best frugal tip – don’t take your kids shopping with you! And use a recipe website if you have a lot of ingredients on hand and no ideas.
Thanks for the tips Carol.

My tip is – don’t worry of you miss a deal or forget a coupon or two. In the end, we are all doing the best we can for our families and probably some needy people or institutions. Just keep going.
Words of wisdom. Thanks Diane.

My best frugal tip is to stay organized, because if you don’t know what coupons you have or where they are, then you can’t use them!
Another one of those organized people! They are everywhere! Except my house.
Thanks Kristin.
