On May 31st I ran a Holiday Contest where a second entry could be earned for sharing a frugal, deal hunting, couponing, or rebating tip! Some were common sense, some were “wow, I never thought of that!”, some I disagreed with, and some were, er, umm dicey.
So, what I thought I’d do over the next month is take five of those responses daily and give you my take on the advice. I’d love for people to add their thoughts and ideas too. And if this seems familiar, yup I did this last year too! I LOVE my reader’s tips and ideas. No matter how long you play this “game” you can always learn something new. Thank you all for providing your wisdom and insight!

coupon tip- check your local library, they usually have coupons cut out in a box. they also have many computers to print coupons from. i know my mom works at a library.
I recall many years ago going to the library and wading through the coupon box. Thanks Anne!

Frugal tip I use with 3 kids under 3 is to cut baby wipes in half.
Thanks for the tip, Emily!

Cut your dryer sheets in half and then you get twice the use out of one box and your clothes still come out smelling fresh and clean!!!
Same thing with the Purex sheets, I heard. Cup ‘em up the middle and they do twice as far. Thanks Dallas!

This month if you buy $50 of Eucerin calming cream, 8 oz, at rite aid you will qualify for a $25 dollar allergy rebate AND a $25 dollar skin care rebate (Plus an additional $5 rebate if you use your wellness card for all the purchases.) With all the rite aid coupons that are out and Eucerin coupons you can make quite a bit of $ on this deal!
The skin care SCR is still available!
I do so love Rite Aid! Thanks Laura.

I love the library tip. I just might head to the one by my Mom’s house next week to see if I can print some more Sobe coupons
The libraries around here won’t allow the coupon printer application to download, so no extra prints.
I used to be able to print extra coupons at school (remember the $5 Huggies coupon last year?!!), but they changed it so no downloading there, either. DRAT!!
Just like the tips to cut baby wipes and dryer sheets in half, I read about a woman who cut post-it notes in half.
hth
Several boards and almost 10 years later, and that is still following me around…
Where’s the head banging emoticon when you need it?
Ann
So…..you have been cutting post-it notes for nearly ten years now?
I did it ONCE… ok it was posted about once. It forever tied me to being cheap, and it has followed me around for a long time.
I stopped doing it immediately after being made fun of mercilessly.
Can I help it if I am occasionally frugal!?
Ann
I can one-up you on this one, Ann. I reuse notes. I have a note that I stick to the microwave when I am defrosting something in there (so I don’t forget about it) and I reuse it until it doesn’t stick any more.
I also have a note to remind my husband to clean the litterbox, which I pull out when it needs to be done.
My family makes fun of me endlessly, but see no need to make a new note each time when the original one serves the purpose.
Suzanne: Once it doesn’t stick, you can always still put a small piece of tape on it to keep using it indefinitely!!
Ann: I wasn’t making fun of you!! Heavens no!! I was commenting that you may have originated the idea, and this long later people are still doing it!! What a frugal legacy!! How wonderful ~ for all of us!
