I ran a contest July 14 – July 16th. Given away were over $150 in coupons and gift cards. The “price” of entry was a frugal tip. Some were common sense, some were “wow, I never thought of that!”, some I disagreed with, and some were, er, umm dicey.
So, what I thought I’d do over the next month is take five of those responses daily and give you my take on the response. I’d love for people to add their thoughts and ideas too.

Buy ready to eat, store cooked whole rotisserie chickens. They are healthier than eating fried chicken. But they can also help you save money. Buy double what your family eats and then use the “leftover” chicken for quick recipes such as: tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches, chicken salad, etc. These quicker and healthier meals, that you can have at home without having to buy restaurant or takeout food.
First time I’ve ever seen someone recommend buying these as a way to be frugal, yet in my area the ready to eat (or 3 legged chickens) ARE usually less expensive than purchasing a fresh, uncooked whole chicken. How crazy is that?

One of my favorite tips is combining Target coupons with manufacturer coupons. I’ve gotten many name brand items including formula, diapers, and wipes, for literally pennies on the dollar by doing this!
Wonderful tip

My best savings tip is to avoid brand loyalty. Open your mind up to trying whatever is on sale/has coupons/can get free!
The number one rule of savings… brand loyalty is gone!

My money saving tip is to re-use EVERYTHING. Mesh bags that onions or oranges come in are great pot scrubbers. Plastic shopping bags make great garbage bags and paper shopping bags are great for wrapping packages or homemade wrapping paper. Try to avoid buying disposable items like paper towels and just use old clothes as rag
Very worthy endeavor that not only saves, but helps the environment.

Cut your dryer sheets in half. They work just as well as a full sheet and you save money.
