Stockpile Recipe: Oven Stew

by admin on May 16, 2011

Several weeks ago, I had asked for help with Stockpile Recipes. I am running low on ideas, and quite frankly, wouldn’t mind trying some new recipes from the stockpile myself!

Several of you were good enough to email me stockpile recipes. BTW, I am now out (Thanks to all who sent!) and really need more recipes pullll-eze!

The recipe is from Patti C:

Oven Stew

1 1/2 lbs. lean hamburger
1 c chopped onion
3 med potatoes sliced
1 stalk celery sliced
5 small carrots sliced
1 can tomato soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup.

• In 2 1/2 qt casserole, pat hamburger
• Add onions & celery
• Pour mushroom soup over top
• Add carrots & potatoes
• Top with the tomato soup
• Cover dish with lid or foil and bake at 350º for 2 hours

You’re welcome. It’s a LONG time family fave. I did it last week in the crock pot. Cooked it on low all day. Worked like a charm. Also, hubby likes it with mashed potatoes on top (like the good ole’ shepherds pie), rather than the sliced potatoes. I’ve even used instant potatoes when in a fix. Anyhoo, hope it works for your fam.
