Stockpile Recipe: Orange Cake by Renee

by admin on September 5, 2010

I ran a holiday contest on July 4th. The requirement for a second contest entry was a stockpile recipe! We all have couponing stockpiles, and new recipes to utilize those stockpiles are always welcome. You can find a complete list of Stockpile Recipes here, under the same named category tag.

Orange Cake
courtesy of Renee :

we all have cake mix stockpiles!

1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup orange juice
4 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil

Mix all ingredients well and pour into a cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool and frost with white or cream cheese frosting. This cake is always a big hit!

another way to make this is in a bundt pan with glaze:

GLAZE:
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup sugar

Prepare glaze 5 minutes before cake is done. Mix all the glaze ingredients over heat until the mixture boils.

Remove the cake from the oven and pour the glaze on top (while the cake’s still in the pan). Let stand for 15 minutes then turn over out of the bundt pan

This sounds terrific! I’d make it today but I don’t have enough eggs or OJ—-

BTW can I still call it a stockpile recipe if I buy ingredients just to make this cake?

thanks for posting this ann! I had forgotten that I left it as a comment :) I made this for a fundraiser we were having (selling dinners) and it was a HUGE hit. I left off the glaze and made it in a cake pan with white frosting on top. I got lots of requests for the recipe!
