Where To Donate Meters

by Ann on January 25, 2010

As you all know, the Bayer Meters have been a $5 moneymaker (well, Register Reward maker) at Walgreens all month, and next week they are a $10 moneymaker (Register Reward maker). They’ve been a $5 moneymaker (well, ECB maker) at CVS a few times the last couple of months, and Rite Aid offered a diabetic tote as a gift when you got them. How were they all free or promotional-money makers? Well, the coupon in the 10/25/09 RP inserts allowed for up to $30 credit, the meters were on sale for $14.99, so free after coupon, and Walgreens gave a $5 RR and CVS gave a $5 ECB.

In addition to the $10 Register Reward maker at Walgreens next week, the 1/31/10 Red Plum inserts will have this coupon:

Purchase one (1) Bayer Meter or Monitor, Receive one (1) Contour or Breeze 2 Test Strips Free to $20. This coupon also expires 4/30/10.

With all these free meters, a frequently asked question is where to donate the meters? Here are some suggestions:

I spoke to my school nurse whose husband is a fire fighter. He said in their organization that aren’t allowed to take them as donations, even if they are sealed in the package. There are strict guidelines that his station must follow.

He did say that he would be happy to take them and they would ship them oversees to countries that have a need for them and aren’t required to follow the same guidelines.

Wondering if other places aren’t allowed to take them as well.
