Gas Point Promotions at the Grocery Store

by admin on April 10, 2009

The last few years grocery stores with gas reductions have popped-up all over the United States. I’ve taken advantage of these offers as often as I can. I still have a 5 gallon container of gas that I paid 4.9¢ per gallon for in the garage. My local Tops limits the amount of gas rewards (every 100 points = 10¢ off per gallon) to a maximum of 30 gallons for whatever reduction you have earned. Also, if you have more points than a gallon of gas costs (say you have 2300 points and a gallon of gas is $2.109), you lose the extra reward points after a fill. In my area it is better to pay a penny a gallon than lose those hard earned points. Different areas have different promotions, so ask at your local grocery store what their gas promotion is, or click the link for your local store below.

One way to pad your point total is by taking advantage of special promotions (Buy Five of X to get an extra 20¢ off per gallon). Another way is to use your free coupons. My Tops deducts the amount of the double credit, but I get full point value for face value coupons and free coupons. I use a lot of frees to accumulate points.
