It Is Not Just Me, Is It?

Things seem to be a little slow around the deal seeking world this month. I know my readership is down almost 40% from normal, so that either means the economy picked up and people are not deal hunting as much, people are on vacation, or the kids are home and more time is being spent with them (and who wants to drag three kids to the store to deal hunt anyway?)

Or Coupons, Deals and More is passé.

Nawwwww that can’t be it.

I know I have been grocery shopping for hubby and myself exactly once in the past four weeks. Except for bread, milk and yogurt, I have not really been frequenting the local grocer.

I’m still going to CVS and Rite Aid every Sunday, but I jumped off the Walgreens merry-go-round. However, that is not due to kids or the summer, that is due to Walgreens stinky Register Rewards offers.

So, how about it? Have the deals slowed down? Or is it just to warm and muggy to shop? Are you taking a break from deal hunting? Or am I wrong and folks are out beating the bushes for deals, and I am just not seeing it?

Since I will not be home until later this afternoon, I am not shopping this morning. I’d reeeeeaaaaallllly like to know how you did today? Did you go out shopping? How’d you do? Did everything go as planned, or did you have to change on the fly!?

Details folks, I need details!

Contacting Companies For Coupons For Upcoming Deals

In the interest of being proactive with Tegan’s bright idea to contact companies for coupons, I looked ahead at a few good deals that have no corresponding snail mail or printable coupons at the drug stores in a few weeks. These are items that are not store brands that you may want to contact the manufacturer to snail mail you a few coupons.

Sunday “Must Do” Deals

Hmmm slim pickings this week. I did not get an early paper, so I did not write up Tops or Wegmans. Sorry. That will be tomorrow.

As always, Rite Aid is worth the trip. Not a huge money making week, but nevertheless still a money maker.

It is a strange week indeed when Walgreens has been sale items than RR. The next few weeks are weird like that at Walgreen’s.

CVS is actually a whole lot better than I thought it was at first blush. Definitely worth a trip sometime this week.

What is up with Target!? I swear their ads have been awful lately!

Here’s the A&P and Pathmark deals. You may want to stop.

Slow week this week. Basically Rite Aid and CVS, and possibly running in to Walgreens for free pantilines.

How about you? What are your Sunday “Must Do” Deals?

Every week it is stated: a RR from the same manufacturer will not roll.

So wth does that mean?

Ok, after further review I decided to clean up my last clarification. :-P

A RR from the same product or alike manufacturer will not roll if it is for the exact same amount.
If you use a $2 J&J RR on an offer from J&J that will get you a $3 RR, it should roll.
Problem is it does not always generate a new RR when from the same manufacturer even with differing RR amounts.
And, if it does not roll you get the cashier/manager arguments and the Catalina arguments that you used a RR from the same manufacturer, blah, blah, blah .

So, I am going to leave this as an absolute even though there are exceptions. I’d rather people safe than sorry especially when dealing with money.

Sunday Morning Shopping

We arrived at Rite Aid a few minutes after 9 am and did the following:

Order #1:

(1) Gillette Fusion $2.99 (poop)
(1) Oral B Toothbrush $2.49
(1) Allergy Buster $9.99
(1) Comtrex $5.39 (non sale price so I got 10% off)
(1) Legatrin $6.99
= $27.85
- $5/$25
= $22.85
- $1/$10 cough, cold allergy RA coupon (from a prior receipt)
= $21.85
- $3 manufacturer coupons
= $18.85
- $14 +Up rewards from last week
= $4.85 + Receive (1) $2 +Up reward
- $21 SCR
= $16.15 Profit!

Note: I had two taxable items but no tax on this order. The $5/$25 took off tax, and so did a $2 +Up reward.

Order #2

(1) Crest Rinse $4.99
(1) Luster White Toothpaste $6.29 (after 10% wellness+ deduction, these are limit 2 SCR)
(1) Glide double pack $5.99
(1) Oral B toothbrush $2.49
(1) No Doz $5.99
= $25.75
- $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon
= $20.75
- $1/$10 oral care coupon (from a prior receipt)
= $19.95
- $4 manufacturer coupon
= $15.95
- $10 +Up reward
= $5.95 + Receive (1) $2 +Up reward
- $16 SCR
= $10.05 Profit!

At store #1 I presented a $3 motrin +Up reward that my dog ate part of (seriously) and asked the cashier if she could enter the numbers. She was completely put out that I asked, and the MOD was clueless. They “tried”, and it did not work. At Store #2 I asked the clerk to try inputting the numbers – no problems at all, and it worked!

At store #1 I had (2) $2 P&G +Up rewards, the machine hated the second one. The clerk tried to tell me it was because I was trying to redeem two alike. She was again put out that I asked the MOD to over-ride. At store #2, I used (3) $3 +Up motrin rewards, the machine hated the second one, the clerk over-rode it, no problems!

I’m not sure what the bug up the cashier’s fanny was at Store #1. This is far and away the best Rite Aid I have ever shopped at. If this had been my first experience in the store, I would never return. She was clueless how to do anything with the +Up rewards, and we are in a test market! She had three extra weeks to learn (she’s not new, I have only checked out with her once before).

After that, I gave hubby free reign at Store #2. He went through $39 in +Up rewards and a $20 GOS certificate!

I still have (1) $10 +Up reward and (2) $2 +Up rewards.

After that we went to 7-11 to get money at the ATM. We found a $1 Häagen-Dazs coupon (14oz size) and a $1/2 Butterfinger coupon.

Hubby thought he saw the Butterfinger single bags were the cashier register special at 2/$1 at Walgreen’s , so we stopped at Walgreen’s and nope. Too bad. He was all set to use a bunch! He’ll have to wait for a sale.

After that, it was on to CVS.

The quarterly rewards are printing. I got a whopping 50¢.

This was my order:

(3) Post cereal 3/$10
(3) Dove Bagged Chocolate $3.50 each
(1) CVS item $6.99
(1) Pepsi $1.99
(1) Combos $1.50
= $30.98
- $5/$15 CVS home mailer coupon
= $25.98
- $3 CVS item home mailer coupon
= $22.98
- $1.99 free Pepsi home mailer coupon
= $20.99
- $2 Dove coupon (from the coupon kiosk)
= $18.99
- $15.50 ECB
= $3.49 + I receive (1) $5 ECB and (1) $3 ECB

Since I made over $25 profit at Rite Aid I have to say this was a good shopping day. For some reason, it did not seem so though. Maybe because I just flipped the +Up rewards to SCR to get the cash out and not on stuff I really needed? It seems that hubby had the right idea at Rite Aid #2 getting what he wanted, and clearly my CVS order was what hubby wanted too. He’s happier with what we “spent”

These are just my totals, I did not include the $59 worth of stuff hubby got. His orders were $66 total, $59 off with +Up rewards/GOS, and he got (2) $2+UP rewards.

Final totals:

$53.60 worth of merchandise at Rite Aid, made $26.20 profit, still have $14 +Up rewards
$30.98 worth of merchandise at CVS, paid $3.49, still have $8 ECB
= $84.58 in merchandise, $22.71 Profit!

So how did you do this morning? Did everything go as planned? Or did you make changes on the fly? Did you find any good unlisted deals? Details, we want details!

Sunday “Must Do” Deals

I got a $5/$15 coupon burning a hole in my pocket, and a new CVS to spend it in! First stop tomorrow morning as they open before Rite Aid.

Rite Aid, Rite Aid, Rite Aid! You meanly serialized the adperk coupons, then very nicely sent out a $5/$25 printable yesterday. Whew, you had us worried for a second there!

I will sit down and muddle through all the offerings from Rite Aid this week. And there are a lot of offering! I also have a $20 GOS coupon expiring soon, and I must use it.

I am taking a Walgreens break for a while. I must say though that I feel sorry for anyone with expiring RR that needs to roll tomorrow. Yikes.

Target doesn’t have much this week.

Tops has a few decent deals this week. I’ll stop sometime this week, but no way will I brave the place on the 4th! It will be a nuthouse. The Wegmans ad is terrible. Nuthin’ to shop for there.

As always, both A&P and Pathmark have some decent deals this week. You may want to stop if you are near.

Two stores for me tomorrow, I’ll have to see how many different Rite Aid though. So, how about you? Doing any shopping on Independence Day? If so, what stores? Or is this a holiday for you and your family yo enjoy and it will be “business” as usual on Monday morning?
