Sunday Morning Shopping

by admin on May 13, 2012

shopping haul

Bear with me because this is an extremely long post, and there were numerous glitches at store level.

Our first stop was Walgreens where I got some devastating news! The fabulous Sunday staff will be changing soon – Taylor graduated from college and is now looking for a full-time job!! YAY! for him, *giant sob* for me!

I did 10 of the following orders:

(1) Starbucks Refreshers 99¢
= 99¢
- 99¢ free coupon
= $0 and received 99¢ RR

and one order of:

(3) Newspapers $2
= $6
- (3) 99¢ RR (from orders 1-10)
= $3.03

Made a fast stop at CVS just to scan for CVS coupons at the kiosk.

After that, it was on to Rite Aid where there was a lot of messed up stuff! Fortunately, my manager is awesome, so she gave me the cash in place of the +ups that did not print.

Rite Aid Order #1

(3) Schick Hydro Silk Razors $9.99
(2) Discount Easter Candy 25¢
= $30.47
- (3) $4 in-ad coupons
- (3) $4 manufacturer coupons
- $2 +ups (from a prior week)
= $4.47

Note: these ring up $9.59 on a 20% card, and I would say “be careful”, but it didn’t make a difference when I switched cards and went to a non discount card – the $10 +ups didn’t print for me.

So, I tried the Wet Ones to see what would happen. If attached to the other Energizer discounts, I should have gotten the $10 ups assuming that the first order for some odd reason, did not round.

Rite Aid Order #2

(10) Wet Ones B1G1 (2/$3.29)
= $16.45
- (2) $1/2 coupons
= $14.45
- $10 +ups from a prior week
= $4.45 received (2) $2 +ups

Nothing on the Energizer, so I did a second Wet Ones order later.

Rite Aid Order #3

(6) Rimmel Nail B1G150% off ($3.99, $1.99)
= $17.94
- (6) $1 coupons
= $11.94
- (2) $2 +ups from order #2
= $7.94 and I received (1) $5 +ups

Rite Aid Order #4

(4) Rimmel Nail B1G150% off ($3.99, $1.99)
= $11.96
- (3) $1 coupons (all I had left)
= $8.96
- $5 +ups from order #3
= $3.96 and received (1) $5 +ups and (1) $10 +ups (The monthly double dip)

Rite Aid Order $5

(10) Wet Ones B1G1 (2/$3.29)
= $16.45
- (2) $1/1 coupons
= $14.45
- $10 +ups from order #4
= $4.45

No monthly printed. I should have received $10 +ups from the tag in front of the Wet Ones, nada, and nothing to indicate any tracking of any sort, just a message that I had reached the maximum number on the Dixie Vanity Fair offer.

At this point, my manager gave me $20 in cash ($10 from the Schick and $10 from the wet ones). She is truly fabulous! She let me play and see what would happen, change cards as needed, etc.

We also shopped two Tops stores this morning. The tracking on the Sierra Mist and Diet Pepsi coupons is messed up. On my first two orders, I did 4/1 (4 sierra mist, 1 diet pepsi). The coupons came off:

55, 55
55, 55
55, 55
55, 03
55, 55

So, I did a second order for the pop and ONLY gave 4 alike coupons, not a fifth coupon. Same thing happened. The fifth 55¢ coupon (different than the 4 alike) scanned 55, 55.

So, when I went to store #2, I did one order 3/2 (3 diet pepsi, 2 sierra mist), 3/2, (3 sierra mist, 2 diet pepsi) to see what would happen:

55, 55
55, 55
beep! over price limit, cashier over-rides sine the pop is $1.11 per bottle, and the double = $1.10
55, 55
55, 55

Second order, same beep even though it was a different coupon combo.

Tops Order #1

(4) Diet Sierra Mist
(1) Diet Pepsi
= $5.55
- (4) 55¢ coupons doubled
- (1) 55¢ coupon that went 55¢, 3¢
= 57¢

Tops Order #2

(4) Diet Sierra Mist
(1) Diet Pepsi
= $5.55
- (4) 55¢ coupons doubled
- (1) 55¢ coupon that went 55¢, 3¢
= 57¢

Tops Order #3

(3) Diet Sierra Mist
(2) Diet Pepsi
= $5.55
- (3) 55¢ coupons doubled
- (2) 55¢ coupons doubled
= 5¢

Tops Order #4

(2) Diet Sierra Mist
(3) Diet Pepsi
(4) Zest $1.99
(4) Milk $1
(12) Lean Cuisine $2
= $41.51
- (3) 55¢ coupons doubled
- (2) 55¢ coupons doubled
- (4) 50¢ coupons doubled
- (4) 25¢ coupons doubled
- (3) $2/4 coupons
= $24.01

Total Merchandise: $167.33
Total OOP: $33.73

And I have (1) $5 +ups and (7) 99¢ RR to use at another time!

So, how did your Sunday Morning Shopping go? Were you out bright and early? Sleep in? Find a deal we should all run out for?

Details folks, we want details!

Sunday “Must Do” Deals

by admin on May 12, 2012

what to buy

Yes, I will be shopping tomorrow. It is Mother’s Day, and I get to do what I want! and what I want to do is cherry-pick deals. :-P

First stop is Walgreens where there have been “none in the warehouse” rumblings about the Starbucks Refreshers. We shall see.

After that, it is on to Rite Aid where I am looking to double dip the Wet Ones. I have an evil plan, now let’s see if I can execute.

I am going to make an appearance at CVS, but that is just to report on the CVS Kiosk Coupons.

And not only will I be hitting a few Tops on Sunday, I will be spending the week there getting a summer’s worth of free pop! YAY!!

I made up a new Wegmans deal list last week.

A&P has a few good deals. The Pathmark ad never went up Thursday, so I never made a post.

Tomorrow I will be stopping at Walgreens, Rite Aid and Tops. Should be interesting!

How about you? What are your Sunday “Must Do” Deals?

Rolling Walgreens Register Rewards

by admin on May 8, 2012

shopping haul

I am by no means a Walgreens Register Reward rolling expert. I walk in with a list or an idea, and see how it goes. For the most part, I know not to roll the same brand on itself (yeah it may work, usually doesn’t and when it doesn’t trouble ensues at the register), and that I need to have one item for every manufacturer coupon I have. Register Rewards are Catalinas, and so are considered manufacturer coupons.

Most people roll to get more stuff for “free” or cheap, and others do it to get a few free items for the cost of what they would be purchasing anyway – like my rolling for newspapers. Since I would buy the newspapers anyway, I may as well get some “free” stuff too!

Take what I did last Sunday. I only wanted 10 Yardley. If I had only purchased 10 Yardley, this would have been my order:

(10) Yardley $1.99
= $19.90
- (10) $1 coupons
= $9.90

I chose to do this instead:

Walgreens Order #1

(1) Witch Hazel $4
= $4 and received $4 RR

Walgreens Order #2

(1) Lanacane $5
= $5
- $4 RR from order #1
= $1 and received $5 RR

Walgreens Order #3

(1) Witch Hazel $4
(2) Yardley $1.99
(1) Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 34¢
= $8.32
- $5 RR from order #2
- (2) $1 Yardley coupons
= $1.32 and received (1) $4 RR

Walgreens Order #4

(1) Lanacane $5
= $5
- $4 RR from order #3
= $1 and received $5 RR

Walgreens Order #5

(1) Witch Hazel $4
(8) Yardley $1.99
(1) Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 34¢
= $20.26
- $5 RR from order #4
- (8) $1 Yardley coupons
= $7.26

$42.58 worth of stuff for $14.58. Since I was going to spend $9.90 anyway, the extra $22.56 worth of stuff was $4.68.

Not the most elegant or best roll, but was that $22.56 worth of stuff worth $4.68 to me? Yup. And that is an essential part of couponing – when it isn’t completely free, you, or a member of your family, or one of your friends – really needs to have a use for the cheap products you buy.

Something else I always try and do, which hurts my rolling, is I try to never leave Walgreens with a RR. That is not always avoidable, but since they expire so quickly I never want to be caught with more than a small Register Reward that may expire before I can use it.

What are some tips and tricks you employ when shopping at Walgreens? Do you roll your RR across weeks? Do you have success rolling the same manufacturer’s RR into each other?

Sunday Morning Shopping

by admin on May 6, 2012

shopping haul

This was a big OOP day since I bought gift cards at CVS. Eh, we will use them so a “free” bonus was a great deal! The one negative was I only wanted Panera bread gift cards and they only had them available in $15 denominations so I had to spend $60 to get the $10 ECB, not the $50 minimum. Nothing else being offered on this CVS that we would use.

CVS Order

(4) Panera Bread gift cards $15
(1) Twix Bar 75¢
= $60.75 and I received (1) $10 ECB and (1) 75¢ ECB and (1) $1 shopping bag bonus ECB

At Walgreens they have the “free after RR items” and “hot” sale items by the register so you don’t have to run around the store looking for them. They used to have the display at the front of the store, but apparently that is no longer an option because the store manager laments not being able to set that up. Guess this was the next best thing.

So I grab two Witch Hazel, two Lanacane, and two Yardley and made the comment that I don’t want to be a pig and take too much.

My favorite cashier goes, “Go ahead and get however much you want, we have more in back!”

YAY!! Now I regretted only having 10 Yardley coupons with me instead of all 20 I have! I can always go later in the week if we truly like this stuff.

Walgreens Order #1

(1) Witch Hazel $4
= $4 and received $4 RR

Walgreens Order #2

(1) Lanacane $5
- $4 RR from order #1
= $1 and received $5 RR

Walgreens Order #3

(1) Witch Hazel $4
(2) Yardley $1.99
(1) Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 34¢
= $8.32
- $5 RR from order #2
- (2) $1 Yardley coupons
= $1.32 and received (1) $4 RR

Walgreens Order #4

(1) Lanacane $5
- $4 RR from order #3
= $1 and received $5 RR

Walgreens Order #5

(1) Witch Hazel $4
(8) Yardley $1.99
(1) Hunt’s Tomato Sauce 34¢
= $20.26
- $5 RR from order #4
- (8) $1 Yardley coupons
= $7.26

All-in-all a fast day – I really only wanted the Yardley and the Panera, so I am very pleased!

So, how did your Sunday Morning Shopping go? Were you out bright and early? Sleep in? Find a deal we should all run out for?

Details folks, we want details!

Sunday “Must Do” Deals

by admin on May 5, 2012

what to buy

Walgreens is a “must do” for me tomorrow. Whatever RR I gather can definitely be flipped on the 13th, so no worries about accumulation this week.

And I am definitely interested in the Panera or DSW gift card promo at CVS – but not for my mother, for me!

I am going to end up at Rite Aid at some point next week. I use dumb blonde by bed head, and there is a $10 =ups wtb $20 worth promotion. I am just not sure I’ll stop tomorrow.

With the “right” coupons, Tops has some good cereal and yogurt deals next week.

I made up a new Wegmans deal list last week. I was underwhelmed.

A&P and Pathmark have a few good deals if you are in the area.

I am undecided about tomorrow – Walgreens for sure, and probably CVS for the Panera gift card. May as well get a bonus for a place I frequent! Anywhere else will be a last minute decision.

How about you? What are your Sunday “Must Do” Deals?
