There are good and bad things about where we are staying in Miami:

The good includes CVS is basically across the street.
The CVS is a 24 hour store.
The Walgreens is six blocks down and also a 24 hour store.

The bad includes – taxes, taxes, and more taxes! Nearly everything I have purchased, including medicine, newspaper and food, has tax. The CoQ10 at Walgreens today somehow was missed by the Florida state department of taxation. An oversight I am sure. My order at CVS today (see below) would have been a quarter back in NYS, but it was $1 here due to all the tax. Yesterday at WalMart the tax was over $9!! It truly is crazy how much sales tax there is down here (getting the tourists to contribute I suppose).

I was at CVS at about 7:30 this morning. This store had a cashier just wandering around and three shelf check-outs. This is the first time I have used a CVS self check-out and it was as temperamental as all self check-outs seem to be.

At CVS this morning, I scanned my card at the kiosk for CVS Coupons. My quarterlies popped out, and wow was it HIGH! $1.50. Usually it is 50¢, so I wonder what I spend actual money on this past quarter? I have been paying with gift cards, so maybe I am spending more without any actual cash outlay?

The last few years CVS has been offering valuepack ECB deals. Some of these deals are great, some are eh. If you look on the main CVS page, you will see a lot of value pack and twin pack offers next week. These are actually the month-long and available until 1/28/12.

However, they are also WSL (while supplies last), and not all CVS stores receive all offers. Basically if you see it and want it, buy it. The good news is most of these offers have a limit of at least three.

Every year people greatly anticipate the CVS perfume clearance. In 2008, I managed to get CVS perfume sets 90% off! My mom was in Florida at the time, I told her about it and she was able to get 90% off perfume clearance at nearly every CVS she stopped at for a week!! We gifted some, and the rest went to the local bettered women’s shelter.

The 50% perfume clearance has begun. Last year, my store was cleared out before 75% off, and 90% off at CVS being a thing of the past (except for some really wonderful managers!), only you can decide whether or not 50% or 75% off is worth your money (or ECB as the case may be).

I will reassess the wrapping paper stockpile before I take off to shop Monday morning. I will tell you that I am after new holiday dishes. The ones I currently have were extremely inexpensive, which while very nice, seemed to have hurt durability. They have gotten nicked up. They were worth the money I paid at the time, but now it is time to upgrade. I probably should have investigated Macy’s much more closely the last few weeks.

As far as the grocery and drugstores are concerned:

I need to shop Rite Aid this week and use up my +ups that expire 12/31/11. I made my $1000 for the discount (by a dollar!), so I will be again concentrating on items we use/need.

I am very grateful I am all out of ECB. The CVS ad is not very good.

Hubby and I were out nice and early this morning. We stopped at CVS looking for the Centrum Pro Nutrients and some Hershey Candy. The Pro Nutrients were no where to be found. The MOD said that they have received them in dribbles and drabs, no more than two at a time. Shesh No stock and a great coupon!? But wait, there’s more! The CVS Coupon Kiosk spit out a $5 CVS Pro Nutrients coupon too!

Once that popped out of the machine I decided to get a raincheck. My CVS will accept expired coupons with a raincheck. All I have to do is staple them to the raincheck, and when I redeem they deduct. Between the $5 CVS coupon and $7 manufacturer coupon I will get one free, so even though I am SOL on the gift card (no rainchecks), a free product is not a bad consolation.

The Centrum Pro Nutrients coupons did not scan and had to be manually entered. Poop. That probably means I miss out on $42 worth of credit towards my 2012 20% discount. To top it off I now have $70 in +ups to redeem, and those purchases will also not count! Well, I suppose there are worse problems than trying to figure out how to get $50 in credit at Rite Aid to make my 2012 bonus discount!

And I have a $10 CVS Gift Card and $40 in +ups to use at another time!

I have 16 Centrum Pro Nutrients coupons, and I am not afraid to use them!

While I would prefer to do the Centrum deal at Rite Aid, my local stores do not open until 9 pm. My local CVS opens at 8am. Decisions, decisions. And I “only” have 16 coupons. To do the full deals at both stores, I would need 21 coupons. My guess is what I do will come down to stock on hand – and I am checking the dog food aisle for hidden stock!

Walgreens does not capture my attention this week.

I am heading to Tops. I missed out on the Duncan Hines last time, so I need to dig out my 50¢ coupons and get there for cheap cake mix.

As you all know, Wegmans is never a Sunday “Must Do” for me!

A&P and Pathmark have a few interesting deals this week if you are in the area.

Looks like I am on a treasure hunt tomorrow with Centrum as the prize.

I stopped at CVS for Kiosk coupons (a $5 beauty ECB printed out for me! YAY!) and decided to pick up the candy canes. They did not generate an ECB, so the clerk printed out a $2 ECB.

After that it was off to Walgreens where hubby and I each did one order:

And then immediate went to Sherwin Williams for paint for our half-bath project.

The clerk at Sherwin Williams was phenomenal!!

They had a 30% off paint sale, then hubby asked if we could use the $10/$50 coupon even though we did not have it with us. She pulled the coupon code from his phone and gave it to us. Then, since our original order was close to $100, she gave us a second $10/$50 discount!!

Original total was $97.85 for two gallons of paint, a brush and two packs of rollers. I then used the $50 home improvement card I had just purchased at Rite Aid

I will be off to Rite Aid first thing tomorrow morning. I want to do the home improvement gift card deal. I needed to buy a new faucet for the half bath project that is taking longer than expected, so I will just turn around and pay for part of it with the gift card after making $10 in +ups!

I would like some newspapers, so I will be heading to Walgreens for Revlon nail polish and to roll those RR for newspapers!

Since I go to CVS on Sunday to report kiosk coupons, I may as well pick up the candy canes too!

I actually want the POM juice at Tops, but can wait until mid-week to buy it. As you all know, Wegmans is never a Sunday “Must Do” for me!
