It has been nice having coffee with you all every Monday morning for the past six months. At this point, I am not doing any traveling until June. I have exhausted the national chains that are available locally, so more coffee reviews will have to wait until hubby and I are on the move again to try national chains where we haven’t yet tried the coffee. Between that and no one requesting a specific shelf-coffee for review, it looks like our Monday morning coffee klatsches are now at an end.
I want to thank you all for reading and participating. I will occasionally revisit coffee discussions, just not as weekly posts.

Today’s discussion: Waffle House Coffee
Waffle House serves a classic blend of high-grade Arabica beans. I know nothing else about their coffee, except that it is fairly smooth going down and has a slight tang at the end.
Since it is so smooth, it is easily consumed black.
As with all coffee how you consume it changes the taste – black tastes different than coffee with cream and sugar added. I can’t drink sweetened coffee, I dislike it. I prefer coffee with two creams, but will drink it black occasionally.
Have you tried Waffle House Coffee? What was your opinion? And what is that tang at the finish!?

Today’s discussion: Steak ‘n Shake
Last week when hubby and I were at Steak ‘n Shake having lunch, I ordered a coffee. I did not expect much – it is basically a step up from fast food, and not a place you think of to purchase a hot coffee.
I really could not find any information on their coffee supplier. For all I know it is Maxwell House or Folgers. It sure ain’t Jamaican Blue.
However, it isn’t bad. Fairly smooth, no bitter acidity and it isn’t watery. For the most part, that is all I hope for when dining out. A shake would still be my first choice at Steak ‘n Shake, but in a pinch, the coffee isn’t too bad either.

I have nothing new this week, sorry! I had every intention of getting to Waffle House, but just have not made it there. I am now shooting for next Monday.
Do you have a whole coffee bean that you enjoy and would like to discuss? If so, email me your coffee name and your thoughts about the product, and I will be happy to post it on an upcoming Monday!

When hubby and I were on a cruise last month, we stopped at Mega store to purchase some Mexican coffee. While we could not find the bean version, we decided to purchase the Blasón ground coffee.
Blasón comes from Oaxaca and the flavor we purchased was the Altura Pluma Oaxaca. This region is located in the south of Mexico, and known for light, smooth coffees – and this one certainly delivers! I encourage anyone traveling to Mexico to go into a local grocery store and buy a bag or two. This is quite inexpensive – approximately $5.50 for 12 ounces, so $8 per pound.
As with all coffee how you consume it changes the taste – black tastes different than coffee with cream and sugar added. I can’t drink sweetened coffee, I dislike it. I prefer coffee with two creams, but will drink it black occasionally. The Blasón is very smooth black, or with cream.
Have you ever tried Blasón coffee? What did you think?
