Today was clean out the ‘fridge day at the Coupons, Deals and More household. The purging stars aligned into a trifecta of: it was nearly a week after Christmas Eve (where the glut of the food was leftover from), Hubby left town, and it is garbage day tomorrow.
Hubby hates to throw out food. Any food. No matter how old or unidentifiable. He can always make “soup” with whatever is left. Me? I always figure a trip to the emergency room for ptomaine poising offsets whatever cost benefit there may be to eating the mystery meat in the back of the refrigerator. Ideally we try and food-saver anything in the ‘fridge before it gets too beat, but with Sonny-boy home food consumption has gone up so we left whatever was in there for him to devour.
He did a pretty good job of it too.
So with the tossing of the Christmas Eve leftovers, the shopping to restock my gift trimmings, and the days in the mall, the holiday season us again drawing to a close for us. Hubby is now OOT until the 10th and Sonny-boy does not care one bit for holiday decorations, so all that is left for me is to box and bag the household decorations and I am done until next December.
And for those wondering, even if hubby was home we would not go out New Year’s Eve. Too old. Heck we’ve been in Vegas the last five New Year’s Eve and we’ve never made it to midnight.
Besides, UPS just dropped off a Barnes & Noble order, so if I finish all my drug store write ups early enough tomorrow, I’ll reward myself with a night of uninterrupted reading.
That is my idea of bringing in the New Year right!

I went over to Tops today to look up extended sale prices and gather Catalina deals. This store, did not have one new Catalina offer marked!! Everything was expired in December, and I even found an October advertisement on the shelves! I did gather so look for an update here later today.
I went over to Rite Aid to get the B1G1 isopure for hubby. I ended up with a rain check instead. I looked at the 75% off make-up and “bought” the following:
(2) physician formula lip $2.48 each
(2) physician formula eye shadow $1.98 each
Now the reason I bought the lip product was to have enough to cover the overage on the $2/$2 wellness+ coupon … or so I hoped. I knew the worst that would happen is I would have them void it off and pay 48¢ each for the lip products. What did happen was
$2 off
$2 off
$2 off
$2 off
= 92¢ Tax is only on the 92¢ because these are store coupons and the tax is removed from a store coupon in NYS.
I went to Target to check and see if there was anything left of the 75% Christmas. Sure was since it was still 50% off!! So much for a corporate memo! I hunted TPCs while there and will be adding a boatload later today here.
Wanna see something funny? While at Target today, I saw this on an endcap hanger:
.

.
Now first, I want you all to tell me how proud you are of me that I:
A ) Figured out how to take a picture with my new toy
B ) Figured out how to email myself the picture so I could crop it and upload it
And second, I want to know how many of you laughed out loud? I could not believe it when I saw it, although I do wonder how Target is going to give me ECB or what CVS would do if I came it with my Target receipt (especially since it is $1.50 LESS at Target!)
I was pretty pleased with my day. I’ll hit another Tops this week to gather the Catalina info. I’ve decided to write Target off at 75% for the year, but I will stop at a few more Rite Aids for either rain checks or the isopure tomorrow or Saturday.
