I’m going to ramble a bit…

by admin on August 31, 2009

Everyone is in this saving-money-thing together. I know that. Heck, I preach that. So why does it bother me when I see lists that I walk hours and hours through stores to obtain copy and pasted to forums? I honestly do not care when other bloggers do it. Could it be because the bloggers will link back and acknowledge thanks?

I was copy and pasted to a number of forums for my Tops lists. A Full Cup was spectacular about remedying this with a link back. The other sites, not-so-much. I’ve had my lists copy and pasted to slickdeals several times now. Not even a crummy “thanks couponsdealsandmore” so everyone would assume it was a poster on another forum.

And it bugs me.

I’m considering going to the stupid images that plaster my url all over them like I do for Tops. These are ridiculously time consuming for me to make, and they are not pretty for you to read. Or, maybe I no longer walk the stores and instead rip other people off blind… with no credit of course? :-P

But seriously, I don’t know what to do. When I posted on B$ at least people would thank AMS when they were reposting me. If you were a deal forum goer you knew what B$ was and who AMS was. If you weren’t into the deal forums you did not care about where the info started anyway, so you did not check the source further than what was posted on the forum you were currently reading.

Maybe I just stop reading the emails that say “so and so copied you to slickdeals” and never click the link?

And maybe I just get over it and not care who copy and pastes? After all, it really is only about helping others save money. After all anyone can walk a store and get the deals. And my time (sadly) is not that valuable.

Ok, my whining time is over. :-)

Walgreens Run This Morning

by admin on August 31, 2009

I decided to hit a few Walgreen’s this morning to find out more monthly RR deals and use the printable F&F Coupon

One item I decided to purchase was the Walgreen’s Children’s Activity book by the pharmacy. Even though it is a Walgreen’s item, it rang up 15% off not 20% off, so 84¢ after F&F coupon. At a different pharmacy, the Healthy Savings Booklets were just laying on the counter so I didn’t have to ask for it! YAY!

.

Also, here are some monthly deals that may/may not be marked at your store that are currently active and great deals!

.

Purchase two (2) Glade Scented Oil Candle or Holder, Receive $1 RR
B1G1 manufacturer coupon (from the 8/23/09 SS inserts)
Free Glade 2oz Candle coupons (from the 8/9/09 SS#1 inserts)

Currently 2/$5 on a monthly markdown, but 2/$4 next week. I never found them on the shelf. They were either on a special endcap shipper or by the register. YMMV

$5/2 – (2) Free coupons = FREE! + Receive $1 RR

.

Purchase one (1) Carefree Ultra Protection Pantiliners ($1.99), Receive $1.99 RR
$1 printable
Carefree 50¢ printable
Carefree Ultra Protection Product $1 manufacturer coupon (from the 8/30/09 SS inserts)

This is actually more types than the ultra protection, but the ultra protection is the one with the good coupon.

$1.99 – $1 manufacturer coupon = 99¢ + Receive $2 RR

.

Purchase two (2) Triaminic Allergy, Sinus or Cold Relief (2/$10), Receive $5 RR
Triaminic $1.50 printable
There is a $2 walgreens coupon in the Healthy Savings $30 booklet for liquids or strips

$10/2 – ($4) healthy savings booklet coupon credit = $6/2 – (2) $1.50 printables = $3/2 + Receive $5 RR

Stockpile Recipe – Chocolate Slush Cake

by admin on August 30, 2009

Once again I did not cook last week. Hubby has been OOT most of the month and Sonny-boy is off at school. Since there is only me, I eat a lot of kashi meals and seldom cook more than a one pan recipe. For instance last week I sauteed some leeks and mushrooms and threw in a bag of shrimp. Combined with a salad I had several meals!

Next week I will have a theme: Labor Day Picnic. We are again having 15 – 20 people over so I’ll be reporting the meal. This week, I dug into the ole recipe box again and decided to post the dessert I’ll be serving next week.

This recipe came from my Grandmother. She made it for as long as I can recall and since she’s been gone 10 years this recipe is pretty darned old (and so am I!) I am probably the only person that ever ate Slush Cake that does not care for it (I am not a cream cheese fan)… so I’ll make it a lot. :-P Anytime I can find a dessert other people like that I will not eat, that dessert is golden! My Stockpile Recipe – Sour Cream Cheesecake is a perfect example. Since I have the world’s biggest sweet tooth, not liking a dessert is actually a perk for me.

.

Chocolate Slush Cake

Step 1

1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Mix as if for a pie crust, press onto bottom of a 13″ x 9″ pan
Bake 15 minutes in 350º oven

Cool crust

Step 2

1 8oz cream cheese
1 cup confectionery sugar
1 1/2 cup Cool Whip

In a mixer combine cream cheese and confectionery sugar until fluffy. Fold in Cool Whip and mix well by hand (you can cheat on a low mixer setting for a short time). Spread evenly over cooled crust

Step 3

2 small packages instant chocolate pudding
3 cup cold milk

Beat together 3 to 5 minutes
Pour pudding over cream cheese mixture in pan. Spread evenly to cover.

Step 4

Top with Cool Whip. Sprinkle with chopped nuts or coconut or both.

Refrigerate at least 6 hours before serving.
